I definitely agree @Bhaskar556 . What @ErmesT mentioned about the option business owners have is of course correct, but unfortunately a large number of businesses on Maps are not claimed, and in some cases I have come across myself already, it would have made sense to add a 2nd phone number (e.g. a land line and a mobile number).
So, if you decide to propose this in Idea Exchange donât hesitate to tag me - I will then upvote this for sure.
Several years ago we had this ability in Map Maker but it discontinued after that and as @ErmesT told now only verified listings can add more than one phone number.
But recently I saw a change. When I search on the web for a (not verified) listing which has been added in Map Maker and has more than one phone number (the second pone is not visible on the map), in the knowledge panel, the system shows both phone number! While in the past months it only showed the main phone number. Maybe this recent change is a sign of bringing again this option to all listings even unverified.
let me share my actual or real time concern, by writing this suggestion to all of you
1, in few cases, there are toll free numbers, which are customer care number or centralized number mentioned alongside address, but no space to update the that specific branch telephone number and centralized not help in all cases, for example, if you search for any bank, you will see only customer care number mentioned and not branch number, nor there is a space to add branch number
at times, there are not one but few hunting numbers in series or like one of you mentioned there are landline and mobile number both (required specifically in case of individual shop owners)
there is another issue which i would like to highlight,
if you edit the telephone number, what is the SLA that it will be published after verification is being done at google end or Google keep it in pending, there as instances where even after changing or adding the number twice or thrice in difference of few days it still didnot appear and shows pending
First of all, I would like to ask you to tag the people you are responding to. In this way we will understand who is the person you are addressing your answer. Just remember to use @ and to click on the username of the local guides you are responding to.
Every single edit need to be verified, as I already told you.
To verify a phone number, the number shown be accessible on a public phone directory online, otherwise it will be impossible for Google to verify your edit
Hello @Bhaskar556
Because of cheats on a large proportion, Google has blocked adding or editing of phone numbers in India. We do not see the phone number field when we try adding a new place.
Similarly, do not attempt to change any phone number. The edit will not get any approval. Any attempt to suggest multiple edits will amount to spamming.
Unfortunately @Bhaskar556 there is no way to predict how long it will take for a suggested edit to be processed by the Google team. In my personal experience, a suggested edit can be âPendingâ for weeks or even months before it either gets approved or denied.
Interesting that you mention âWe do not see the phone number filed when we try adding a new place.â @C_T . You mean that anywhere in India, when you try to add a POI there is no option to enter a phone number? I just tested this (with a random location in India) and did see the phone field. Perhaps the limitation is also location-based?
