Kumbhalgarh Fort Wall, Kumbhalgarh, District Rajsamand Rajasthan India.
Who does not know about the Great Wall of China, it is a famous World Heritage and is also counted among the seven wonders of the world. It has the distinction of being the longest wall in the world. I came to know from the Kumbhalgarh trip that the Kumbhalgarh fort’s perimeter wall is the second longest wall in the world. This reason is also able to attract tourists to explore the amazing fact.
At first sight, it is understood that this wall of Kumbhalgarh fort is very strong and impenetrable. There is only one gate for entry named Ram Pol and with huge bastions on either side.
After accessing the hilltop through the steep upward sloppy path, the view of this wall from top of the fort makes the visitors surprised. At equal intervals the turret and the upper surface of the wall like a magnificent road on which five horsemen can easily run horses, five to fifteen meters thick on this wall. Actually the view of this wall is very amazing. Complete wall and bastions are built by coursed rubble stone masonry and stone were dressed, lime mortar with other additives made this wall quite strong. There is no doubt that this strong wall was an almost impregnable security enclosure of this fort and hence this fort was a safe haven for the Mewar rulers under odd conditions.
The length of this wall is approximately thirty six to forty kms, which separates Mewar and Marwar passing through the plains and valleys of Aravalli. This is a major and spectacular attraction as it’s a second longest wall in the World.
It’s a major attraction among the tourists, history buffs, art and architecture lovers.
