Edit: After two days, due to a large wave of approved Roads, I have to change the cover photo of the post
I don’t write much in this section (Achievements) of Connect. I have always said that for me numbers (Points, Views, Likes) are not an important thing, with only one small exception: the Roads added in Google Maps.
I set myself a goal: to reach 15,000 roads approved before the end of the year. I had calculated that this was an achievable goal, with an average of 50 roads approved per day, so I took it very easy.
In reality, Google Maps decided to surprise me for Christmas, starting to approve dozens and dozens of edits made in recent months, with an average of approved streets often exceeding 100 per day (235 in the last 10 hours).
I therefore believe that by the end of the year the approved roads will be well over 16k (at this moment 15653 are already uploaded to my profile).
Even if it is not an absolute record ( @Lukas_1 is traveling fast towards 19K) it is still a result of which I am extremely proud, and now there are many Unknown Heroes who can boast over 10,000 roads added to Google Maps
What can I say more? It’s a fantastic adventure! An adventure in which I am not alone. The “Road Hunters”, as @MarcoDavoli defines us, or Roaders, as I prefer to say (ref: Roaders At Work - The Hidden Heroes of Google Maps ) are many, and there are those who have a much higher number of approved roads than mine.
An adventure I’d love for you to join. There are many streets that are not yet in Google Maps, and there is room for everyone.
Mexico, Ecuador, Argentina, Brazil, Uruguay, Turkey, Nigeria, Tunisia, Libya, Algeria, Jordan, India, Indonesia, Australia, Canada, United States, Nepal are just some of the countries where I have added roads.
From time to time in Connect a fantastic Mapping Campaign is activated by @SholaIB : TRAC. Google also talked about it with an official post here in Connect: Thank you for mapping 50,000 roads on Google Maps!
Maps wants you: If you are interested in participating in this virtual journey to explore the planet, please let us know. We will all be happy to give you guidance and advice on how to improve your performance.
I take this opportunity to wish everyone my best wishes for ahappy Season’s Greetings.
