Seafood, a common gourmet to connect Southeast-Asia nations closer

Southeast Asia consists of Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Phillippines Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam. These ten countries are surrounded by two greatest ocean (Indian Ocean and Pacific Ocean) and many more seas (South China Sea, Andaman Sea, Java Sea, Sulu Sea, Philippines sea) around the countries. Thereafter, these countries have been blessed with many of maritime livings. Seafood is one of the common raw materials/ingredients that can be easily found. Also, it is local favourite.

Another shortcut to learn the culture of the local,

-Experience the local culinary way for seafood

-Taste/presentation of Seafood

Indonesian prefer the seafood treated under deep-fried coated with crunchy flour and marinated with plenty of sauces such as sweeten sauce. It is another level of taste and obviously flavor-rich.

Singaporean way is a healthier version where the highlight more on less salt/oil/chili/sweet and the culinary main focuses on elevated the original taste of the ingredients.

Thailand

Thais prefer fried the seafood or cook with many chilis (also dried chilis) and flushed with chili oil. It is a flaming hot experience.

Vietnam

  1. Maria Saigon Seafood Restaurant, Ho Chi Minh City

Vietnamese prefer the seafood in steam and lightly cooked with some sauces. Preferable to eat with a rice paper and dipped with fish sauce.

I love to explore on seafood whenever i travel to neighbouring countries in Southeast-Asia. Perhaps that is main motivation for me to experience the local favourite, seafood (which is the common interests for most of the southeast-asia nations)

Hi Aruni,

What is my favourite seafood in fact is from Indonesia. Typically spicy and grilled type of Crab/Fish/Prawn.

This is because most of the food cooked with many spices and flavor-rich.

However, it is obviously less healthy choices :frowning:

In such a way that we can not eat these too frequently.

Thanks
