It was in 2017 December, during our getaway in Bengaluru that we happened to come across this not-to-be missed rural restaurant in Malleshwaram. After meeting with a friend in Bengaluru, we inquired about any nearby restaurant, then it was him who suggested us Halli Mane, which means homely food in kannada language…
Some provide info about just the restaurant name or menu at the most, but I mostly look for detailed descriptions by food bloggers which give a pretty good idea about the flavors and it’s easy to decide on what to order avoiding the long time we have to spend researching on their menu book.
Once we reached the place, it was lunchtime by the way, we saw many people were eating small cups of ice creams standing and chatting in the front space of the restaurant. Once I entered the restaurant I was shocked to see this long queue inside the restaurant and this not-crowded on the outside restaurant was heavily packed on the inside…
We had to take a token and wait in the queue but the queue was clearing pretty fast. Looking at the queue I thought to myself that what these people are serving that even many office goers prefer to wait in the queue even though they had to go back to work in the planned time.
When our turn came we walked up the stairs and seated at a comfortable table. and now ready to savor the feast, yaaay!!
We ordered mushroom chilli, veg hakka noodles .and some filter coffee
I took a toothpick which came along with the dish and caught a jumbo piece of deep brown colored crispy mushroom…yummm!!!
It was very much crispy on the outside with a tangy and sweet taste and very juicy inside
And the gravy was so flavorful that no one can resist licking fingers.
My wife had the piping hot noodles along with the sauces and that was yummilicious too… I missed those mouthwatering photos!
The must try dish on their menu is their special Thali…
The South indian Thali which is a train of flavors I would say and I forgot to count the number of dishes served in the awe.
We fell in love with this restaurant at the very sight of this mouth watering enormous platter.
What makes this restaurant so special?
The way they serve their food is very interesting.
Men clad in pleasant looking outfits of the same dress code came with their pots of curries and mini papads and they are so strict on their hospitality that they serve the ladle of curries and rices so slowly that you also start calming down.
I mostly can tell the ingredients apart while tasting any dish but here i was a total failure!!
I could not even tell what their variety of breads were made of…
Some were green… some brown… i guess some were with raagi but did not have any distaste at all!!
They serve as much as you want in one Thali and the Pulao, Veg Biryani , curd rice, Bisibele bath , creamy tomato sauce and desserts all tasted awesome…
It’s not the end yet…!!!
After you have finished your lunch and you walk down the stairs you see a table served with small ice cream cups…and one is yours!
They have a tempting sweet corner near the stairs and you can’t resist taking bag of those soft mouth melting sweets along with you.
The beautiful Karnatic music playing in the background is very relaxing too. The interior is done in a traditional Karnatka style with warm lighting.
Will you come back to this place?
I would surely say yes because there are plenty of yet to try flavors and i believe Halli Mane won’t disappoint me.
I love giving this kind of detailed information on restaurants like this is because we all are choosy while looking for restaurants while we are travelling considering hygiene and price. And I find such descriptions very useful while looking for one
So guys!, don’t forget to order Chilly Mushroom and Halli Mane Special South Indian Thali
And I believe it is very wise to decide the dishes you want to savor or you don’t want to miss ahead of time and place your order and reserve a table before you reach the restaurant if you are a foodie like me while travelling.
