Scene from cellular jail panoramic views of sea amidst the aroma of stories of frredom
That’s quite an unusual location to visit. What’s most interesting fact that you heard during your visit? What’s the name of place? Can you share more about it from your point of view?
Hi
Loved to hear about ur interest.this is cellular jail in port blair;and this scene is from its roof where u can enjoy panoramic views.
Thus place has a historic significance
Since indian freedom fighters were captured here.in the memory of these great soldiers we have a beautiful light and sound show too
That’s an interesting story! Being part of the island history makes it even more valuable. You can expand the description of your post about the fight and cause of the people who were jailed at that time. Further, I am curious if it’s still a functioning prison? Do you know if this is the case, @sunanda ?
Partially glad to hear that it’s no longer an active jail, @sunanda On the other hand, it looks like quite an experience when you get there. Was there a guided tour around this landmark?
Once u visit the campus there,we have indian govt appointed guides to guide u across the museum;giving u the entire description of history associated with each and every place .
For e.g. I posted a pic of savarkar cell there that was the place where VEER(meaning courageous in hindi) was imprisoned.
The airport in port blair is also named after him Veer sawarkar international airport
This is what I was mainly interested in. Thank you for clarifying, @sunanda I can see that they are wearing uniforms as well. Am I right thinking that these are guards’ uniforms?
I am so happy to provide u with this info.I enjoyed your keen interest.
Well these our prisoners uniform which our freedom fighters used to wear at that time
I have heard of prisons turned in attractions but I have never been in such which is why I come with a bag of questions. Hope that doesn’t hesitate. Plus, you have been there and experienced the place in person and definitely have style with presenting the information, @sunanda
Do they make small groups on location which guides navigate around the prison or do they just operate per number of arriving people?
Well when u reach there; u can see govt official sharing I cards of tourist guides.based upon your convenience they can provide u with personal guide or group guide as well.
For group guide when tourist of any group; based on language (English or any)
Will tell u about everything.
If any questions y can freely msg me
Would love to do for sure. Thank you @sunanda . You can also expand your post with similar clarifications. I believe that even more LGs will join our conversation this way.
Thanks for the upliftment…
U can join me in other posts too
Do elaborate the points u want more information on
What are you? A mind reader? I was indeed thinking of doing that. Awesome to have people like you, @sunanda , as information sources on Local Guides.
