[Say Goodbye to The Horrible Food]What does the Local Guides program mean to you?

Hi! It’s me Sandy. I’m a level 6 local guide from Taiwan. It is said life is like a box of chocolates. You never know what you’re gonna get. This saying can apply to the restaurant choosing situation as well. As a student in Feng Chia: a university right next to the night market named after it, I am always in a dilemma about where to go or what to eat because there are too many choices!

Moreover, there are many expensive and unappetizing restaurants around us, but we often accidentally visit them because we have limited time to make our decisions.

One day, I felt upset, so I want to get some fast-food takeout from the nearest fast food restaurant to comfort myself. Although I saw a lot of negative comments on the google map, I still got some food there because I was too hungry. However, when I opened the packages at home, I found that they forgot to give me the egg tart which is the most desirable food in this cuisine. Besides, the food tasted so horrible that I couldn’t even finish half of it! That made me more upset, so I left a comment on the Google map. That comment might be the most viewed comment of mine then. In addition, after few days, it is hilarious that I got a notification which told me the comment was popular. I discovered that my opinion can be influential! Because of the that, I began to avoid visiting the restaurants that receive lots of negative comments and decided to left comment honestly on this platform in order to help other people. The story sounds ridiculous, but that’s how I started my journey as a local guide.

This platform not only help us with choosing restaurants, but also other things about our lives. For example, when I wanted to get a new pair of eyeglasses, I found there is an optician with numerous positive comments, so I decided to go there. I was satisfied after visiting. The owner was really nice, and the quality of their products are high as well. Thus, I decided to leave a comment in order to attract more customers to visit this admirable place.

My friends often ask me to recommend some nice dinners to them because I share what I eat on my Instagram frequently. Nevertheless, it is a private account that only my followers can read the posts. After becoming a local guide, people all over the world can see my post and exchange their opinions with me.

I really enjoy having delicious food. Conversely, I fell upset when I accidentally eat some unappetizing food. Moreover, I’m a little bit impatient, and I hate wasting too much time on making decision. I hope my contribution can make other people’s lives more convenient and better. Sharing experience with others and helping people all over the world makes me happy and proud of myself! I hope both the owners of the stores’ and the customers’ quality of lives can be improved by our comments. Last but the most important, Say Goodbye to the Horrible Food!

Hello @SandyYang you might have wondered what happened to the posts you wrote, as that all of a sudden disappeared, right? Well, actually, they were accidentally caught in our spam filter (which is quite strict out here). I have now released them and merged into 1 single post, to avoid that your Connect account would get flagged as spammer.

The result is that the content of your first post is now added as a comment to your second post. If you want, you can remove the content of that comment by clicking the ‘…’ at the bottom of the comment and then simply removing the content there (or replace it with something like “content removed as it was an accidental duplicate”).

By the way: if this is the post you want to use for applying to Connect Live, you will still need to change the topic to ‘Local Stories’

@JanVanHaver Okay, I got it. Thank you SOOOOOO much! :sob:

@JanVanHaver I just noticed that the content that I want(the 1st one) became the comment of the 2nd one. I’m afraid that if I revised the content of the 1st one, it will be added as another comment. Would you please tell me how to fix it?

@SandyYang just change the main text to what it needs to be. I will keep an eye on it to check that it doesn’t get sent to the spam folder again.
