I recently planned a UK trip using frequent flyer miles. I found a great deal for 20k points each way from Philadelphia, PA. That is just 40k points roundtrip; whereas it’s usually at least 60k. Before securing this great deal in and out of London Heathrow Airport, I decided to post on a travel group I frequent to ensure I wasn’t making a mistake since the taxes for the trip were $200 per person. I quickly learned from the many helpful posters that flying out of the UK is very expensive due to taxes, no matter how cheap the fare is. So I decided to instead fly INTO London and only paid $5.60 in taxes and will be flying our of Dublin for less than $50 in taxes. This saved me about $300 for 2 people! I wanted to pass this tip on in case you didn’t know about those hefty taxes out of the UK.
