Satellite image in google map is not updated

The satellite image in my location is older and is of nearly a year before. When I checked Google maps satellite images I found that a building which was demolished before a year is still appearing on the map and building which was newly built on other place is not visible.

That is not uncommon, @mohammeduvez29 .

In some areas the satellite images can be a few years old.

You can suggest pins removed and new pins added.

Let me know if you need further help.

Hi @mohammeduvez29

Unfortunately the satellite Image in Google Maps are not continuously updated, we know that, and the satellite view is not representing a “real time” situation. Google do not collect image by itself, the images are acquired, and paid, from third party. This is extremely expensive, also for a big company like Google is. Google need to have a rational process for acquiring the images, carefully selecting the areas where to prioritize the updates.

@MortenCopenhagen ya but in order to provide correct information to user satellite maps should updated… I think this matters because sometimes looking at satellite image gives exact knowledge that which place it is

@ErmesT thank you so much for providing detailed information. but in order to provide correct information to user satellite maps should updated… I think this matters because sometimes looking at satellite image gives exact knowledge that which place it is and where it is situated

I understand the satellite images are valuable to discover and pin point new places, @mohammeduvez29 .

You could post a request in the Idea Exchange section. But I’m afraid you will be wasting your time.

Getting a Googler to commit or comment on this is also a long shot.

Better not get upset about it.

Well @mohammeduvez29 in an ideal world everything is perfect, free and always updated.

Google is actually working in several improvement of the Map, and they prioritize what give benefit and is helpful for a bigger amount of people.

Even if I am an extreme lover of Google Earth, I think that there are things that really should be improved first, because there are more ways to inform the people about places, and one of them is what we do as Local Guides, or at least what we should do.

When someone, like you, is talking about providing correct information, I like to check the profile in Maps, because I wants to learn from who wants to provide correct information. I have discovered great contributors, but sometimes I have a big delusion, and I see that some of us unfortunately is more for points than for helping people, uploading duplicate photos, or stolen photos, violating the rules tat we should follow, and I am always asking to myself: “why do they do this?”. In this way they make a damage to the Maps that is bigger than the benefit that we can have from an updated image from the satellite.

Is really an updated satellite image what we really need? More than a Maps free of spam?

This is just my opinion, of course, but I hope you will understand what I am telling you

Hello @mohammeduvez29

Through your earlier queries on Connect, I understand you are from India.

Regretfully, GOI doesn’t allow private agencies to provide sharper satellite images & street view images.

Hello @mohammeduvez29 ,

I just wanted to let you know that I removed the accepted solution as it doesn’t answer any question or doesn’t solve any issue you might have.

However, just like @MortenCopenhagen said, feel free to share your thoughts and ideas in the Idea Exchange section on Connect, where it will reach the responsible team and can be considered for implementation.
