Salzburg - more then "The Sound of Music" and Mozart

Just 50 Kilometer from my place of residence (Attersee), but far away. Usually we just go to Salzburg to visit the shopping mall “Europark” or stores around the “Getreidegasse”. The way was never the goal, just go there to buy something.

Salzburg is so much more than shopping, The sound of music or Mozart. Yesterday we redeem a gift voucher for a two hour Segway Tour , through Salzburg, which i get as a birthday present. To be honest, i just thought Segway will be fun no matter where to drive. Our Tour started at 10:00 o’clock, after a 3 minute training practice everyone feels comfortable on the Segway.

First, we started along the Linzer Gasse crossing the Salzach River over the Staatsbrücke to the Kaigasse. After a short break at Kajetanerplatz we drove through the most elegant residential district in Salzburg.

Usually i am not a big fan of cities, but Salzburg is different. If you just walk 5 minutes from center you will find nice, charming and cozy place, no matter if you want to drink a beer with a view in Buffet zur Richterhöhe or just read a relaxing book on a sunny park bench. Salzburg isn´t a dirty, fast or busy city, that makes it to my number one city in Austria :slightly_smiling_face:

After a 5 minute ride along the Nonntal we arrive at the beautiful Loepoldskroner Weiher. Besides fishing, swans and ducks the lake offers you the nicest view to Hotel Leopoldskron (historical villa, now used as a Hotel). The ways around the lake invites a lot of runners, walkers, cyclists which enjoy a break on one of the many benches around Loepoldskroner Weiher.

We crossed the Almkanal (should be the oldest medieval water tunnels in central Europe, it has also a surf wave at the south end of Salzburg) and ride over the Krauthügel to the foot of the fortress. While riding on the steep way to Stift Nonnberg you should be carefully (keep right) with the oncoming “Sound of music bike tour” :slightly_smiling_face: The places around Stift Nonnberg offers a nice view over Salzburg city, from here we drive to the Mönchsberg passing the Museum of the modern and the Hotel Schloss Mönchstein (one of the classiest Hotels in Salzburg).

Down the small hill Augustiner Bräu Mülln is a good place to have a beer or five, but please finish the tour first. What would be a Salzburg Tour without Mirabell Castle? As a great finale, we goes to Mirabell Gardens and Castle. Mirabell is impressive and beautiful. We never had a possibility to see so many nice places and friendly peoples. So many peoples smile at our Segway Tour group and gives us a thumb up (offline like).

Our tour guide was very friendly and supports us with all essential information and local stories about Salzburg and visited locations. Thanks David! (tour guide) well done!

Even though the cold temperatures it was a great trip and a great day :slightly_smiling_face:

To warm over we went to Ludwig, a very nice Burger Restaurant near the Segway base.

Hi @hi6h5c0re ,

Thanks for the nice post and welcome to Connect!

Your story sounds very cool and I am sure you had great time in Salzburg! Especially when you were on a Segway Tour, it looks adventurous to ride around the city with it while listening the history of the city. Which places impressed you the most? It would be great if you add more photos with description. Posts with more content and good photos have a good chance of being featured or chosen for a Friday Favorite post.
