Salty Air

I live in Blaine, Washington a calm border town that is the township leading to the ‘Peace Arch’ going into and out of Canada from the Pacific Northwest. Currency exchange, joggers, fishermen, lots of wind and most importantly the nicest people in a community. We understand what ‘a minute’ means; some times it’s :60 seconds and others time stands still till it just happens. “IllI have your lunch in a minute.” Usually means you have time to observe the views, have a conversation, share thoughts over coffee. At the drug store, “Give me a minute,” means their full attention in about :15-:20 seconds. At Starbucks it depends on the flavor in front of you.

Blaine Washington is one of those places you feel at home even on a visit. The best part of Blaine is the fresh salty air. You can’t describe it but can taste it with every breath when you take that minute to take-in Blaine as it is; calm, friendly, conversational and to me, home.
