I’m with you on removing stigmata’s about the city. But man that’s a steep hill to climb. So many people buy into the tv news, a fine example is politics! I truly wonder… It’s a very widely used app and the reach is great but how much weight can one shift on here? I don’t see restaurants asking anyone of us to come in and review their latest dish. Google certainly isn’t offering any high prize for making their product better. In all honestly I’m at a loss for good praise. When I first did a few, I thought I was helping. I’ve recently dove in head first to really gain some clout. My wife went in to like some of my posts because she’s awesome and I’m a boyscout who collects merit badges lol. Only to discover, some are hidden and don’t violate any rules! It seemed random at first but I see allot of one stars being hidden. Maybe businesses spam flagging reviews? Looking at the tougher neighborhoods, that’s an uphill battle! Joe in St Charles sells reverse osmosis icecream, so does Duane in east stl. Well Joe is savvy to google maps and edits and spams Duane’s map marker into oblivion. I can’t find anything here in google maps to protect that. One of my reviews which meant allot to me and fueled my drive is hidden. It was a very rude store down in arnold, I gave them a review appropriate with two stars. The owner responded lying, about my service yesterday. Well, the time between my post and when I actually visited was two months apart even verifiable by gps timeline. Through all that, poof, gone. There’s very little backing by google aside from the points, whats left? One heavy local reviewer in a sea of 5 star “hey cool place” or my favorite, “it’s good” Hahahahahha, I don’t know. My wife has been here 38 years, myself 11. I grew up in a rough neighborhood out east. She is terrified of grafitti while I see some as fine art. You Sir, want a positive spin. I myself love to drag a horrible business through the dirt. I’m blabbering… It takes a community, and there’s allot of community outreach programs to better the area. But mass media, unless you can discredit them and make it stick… It’s hard enough swaying family with opposing political views, even though lets say their side’s policies will directly harm the family. It’s a psychological campaign, and the opposing side to you has allot of reach and money. That money is generated by fear and dissolution, you’ll be in for a fight.
