Rum - Cocktails and Mix

Since the trading time of the West Indies, and the famous Pirates of the Caribbean; Rum

was one of the commodities to interchange between the New World and the Old European World. Because of the events of colonization, each Caribbean Island have its unique destilation process, dominated by the influence of the Country that own it during that period. Spain, Portugal, France, England, and Dutch are some of the Country to help to add their special flavour, spices, and aging process in the elaboration and the destilation of melassa from the sugar cane field worked by that period by the slaves.

In this Modern era, Rum is one of the best selling “spirit” liquor sold in the World. There is a variety of categories, and flavors available. In the Area of the Caribbean you can mention the Cuba Libre or Rum & Coke. That is 2 ounces of Rum, 4 ounces of Coke, and a squeeze of lime, on a flat glass with ice.

Mojito, is a popular mix in Cuba, Mexico, Miami, and Puerto Rico. Its include: about 10 or 12 mint leaves, 1/2 lime, 1/2 cup of club soda, 1 1/2 ounces of white rum, 2 tablespoon of sugar, and of course ice.

The Piña Colada., is a refreshing cocktail to be drinked in our Beautiful beaches of Puerto Rico. Its include: 3 parts of pineapple juice, one part of white Rum, and one part of coconut cream. Blended and mix on crushed iced. Look for a smooth look. Serve in tall glass, and garnish the top with a cherry, or pineapple piece.

I like rum and Piña Colada, too! Piña Colada is a refreshing drink, especially in the summer day.

I just knew that The Island of Puerto Rico is the large manufacturers of Rum in the Caribbean. Cool!

My favorite is the Mojito. The lime and mint mix excellent with the Rum flavor. There is a lot of receipts on Google, of how to use Rum. Like Rumcake, Oven Roasted Chicken with Rum and wine. Shrimp with butter and Rum; also for dessert, Chocolate sauce with cherry and Rum. Mmmmmm tasty.
