I’ve watched horse racing countless times in movies, but recently, I finally got the chance to experience it live at the Royal Western India Turf Club and it was a completely different feeling!
The Pune Race Course was built in 1830, making it one of India’s oldest racecourses. The club is a prominent pillar of Indian horse racing, recognized for its historic legacy and enduring influence on thoroughbred racing in western India. The excitement of the horses racing past, the energy of the crowd, and the atmosphere around the racecourse made the experience truly memorable. 
The entry fee is â‚ą75 for the general public without a camera and â‚ą1,000 with a camera. There are also plenty of food options available at the venue, with both vegetarian and non-vegetarian choices.
One tip if you’re planning to visit: arrive a little early on race days, as the venue can get quite crowded once the races begin.
It’s worth getting there early, finding a good spot, and soaking in the atmosphere before the action starts. Watching the horses race in real life after seeing it so many times on screen was definitely a bucket-list experience checked off!
