Last week, I was able to visit one of the best free places to visit in town for the first time. The Royal Selangor Visitor Center (https://goo.gl/maps/u4PNDuzTdp65Dt4j9 ), is a privately owned museum, welcome center, factory, gallery, workshop for the Royal Selangor Pewter industry. Pewter for those who are not familiar is an alloy made with tin, antimony, copper etc with ornamental values, and used as functional as well as decorative objects.
Entrance is totally free, and comes with a free guided tour around the museum, operations center, factory, manufacturing, gallery and so on. So, what could be better than a free visit where one can learn so much about Pewter.
[Picture above] First and foremost, the entire area is fully wheelchair accessible and built to such a need. They welcome wheelchair users. There are large ramps everywhere and wide walking areas throughout the museum and ramp going through the factory. Amazing!
[Picture above] The museum is one of the most interesting places as the guided tour tells about the history of the pewter industry. There were so many antique historical pieces that were just marvels of craftmanship. And the guided tour explains many of the these unique pieces in details.
[Picture above] After spending time in the museum, visitors can experience a guided explanation on how pewter pieces are manufactured from molten metal to shaping, to finishing. This is just such an amazing experience.
[Picture above] After walking through the factory, one can explore the cafe which serves good coffee and snacks (not free), and also the sale gallery of beautiful pewter pieces. Purchase is optional, clearly there must be a way to generate some income to sustain the tours. But no one is compelled to purchase anything.
[Picture above] There are also paid extra activities such as making our own souvenirs and pewter shaping workshops and can be packaged with lunch for a great price for groups or even single person. Best to call to enquire before turning up.
[Picture above] This is the ramp going through the factory and a wheelchair user can experience almost everything the same as a non-wheelchair user.

This is an incredible place and all who visit Malaysia and locals should come here at least once to experience this place.
All photos and video are self taken.
