Rotorua - Beautiful Town With A Smell

Rotorua, is a town with a distinctive smell (sulphur) set by its namesake lake on New Zealand’s North Island. It Is renowned for its geothermal activity and Maori culture. In Te Puia’s Whakarewarewa Valley, there are bubbling mud pools and the 30 meters tall Pohutu Geyser, which erupts many times daily.

Rotorua is also home to the Tamaki Maori village where you can experience some of the Maori culture with dancing and a typical Hangi dinner (streamed meats and vegetables) an experience I thoroughly enjoyed. The Redwood Tree Walk is only 5 kilometers south east of the city center and it is wonderful to walk up among the tall redwood trees. The beautifully landscaped Government Gardens is a must if you are visiting Rotorua where you will see thousands of flowers and some quite different statues.

On Thursdays there is a Night Market in the center of town where you can try a variety of foods all at very reasonable prices.

The town looks stunning, @Grant1 . Thank you for sharing. Is it your hometown or did you just visit?

Why don’t you organize an accessibility meet-up there, I’m sure you’ll come across some breathtaking details, worth taking shots of, on the way. How to organize a successful meet-up will give you some helpful insights.

I was just visiting Rotorua during a month travelling around New Zealand and yes it is a beautiful place.
