In Indonesia, maintaining environmental safety is carried out by residents. They make a schedule to maintain security. This work is called RONDA.
On its way, the night patrol is only an activity to guard against anything suspicious. Another positive point gained from this activity is the friendship between residents who may very rarely face-to-face during the day due to work.

Sayapun kebagian piket di malam minggu supaya tidak mengganggu aktivitas kerja, ini budaya yang tetap terjaga, di tempat lain, aktivitas interaksi warga via ronda sudah diganti oleh hansip, satpam, security bahkan robot.

Thank you for telling us about neighborhood watch.
In my neighborhood, today We have 3 neighbourhood watch security, they do watching for us in three shift.
I personally know them very well, because I feel grateful they watching for us.
I personally ask them to do tour of duty around neighborhood, due too expensive to buy timer for checking in each positition during the tour, I ask them to hit electric pole and telecomunication pole so we can hear that he do his tour, and people who have bad intention will think twice to do something.
I personnaly ask the night shift security if something suspicious, do’nt do someting iolence to protect us, just hit the poles with a rhym so everybody will woke up and do something.
Years back when the neighborhood security is escalated, we all man in the neighborhod have a schedule to do neighborhood watch, even in working days, just preparing to protect if something bad happen.
We have a close communication with Police and Military officer (BABINSA) who in charge in our neighborhood as their teritory area.
Yes we do Ronda, neighborhood watch but depend on escalation of security issue.
Night patrol is a walk around (patrol) at night, to maintain security in the local village / village either on foot or by motorized vehicle.
Ronda seems to only exist in Indonesia.
