Rome: a tip for a different visit.

I realized that I had never written about Rome, thinking that it could be so well known in the world, that it was not worth writing things that many others have written much better than me, and above all because, for better or for worse, many of you have visited. But I thought that when you see Rome most of you see it like this:

But the best thing to do, in my opinion, is to leave the hotel early in the morning, before 7, and spend half an hour taking a nice ride around Rome, along its most famous squares, passing by the monuments, always so crowded. completely cleared, even better if done on a Saturday or Sunday morning because locals like to sleep late.

And so you can pass by Piazza Venezia and the Monumento al Vittoriano and stroll through the Imperial Forums until the sun timidly comes out of the horizon to start a new day.

Go to the Colosseum and enjoy the show without the traffic noise, the shouting of a maddened crowd, modern centurions trying to be photographed with you with the sword for an unlikely souvenir photo.

Enter the ruins of Rome, over 2000 years old, look at the columns of the temples, the forum of Trajan, that of Caesar and climb the highest hill, the Quirinale, where the residence of the Italian Head of State is located. The guard is always attentive at the door. The square still sleeps.

Then go down to the Pantheon, which in 5 years will celebrate its 2000th anniversary. Impressive for its majesty and above all for the huge dome which seems impossible to us moderns could have been built and which has stood still for two millennia!

and then pass in front of one of the most famous monuments, the Trevi Fountain, which is usually never seen, as it is immersed in the crowd of tourists. Today practically empty, all for me.

I go back to the hotel and convince Mariacristina to put on her running shoes and take another ride with me, Rome is really worth seeing!

Good morning Rome!!!

Andrebbero fatti entrambi @plavarda

Hi @plavarda !

But …you are already on vacation and you will have a lot to walk in Rome as a tourist, why do you start running early in the morning?
Olympics in sight?

Watching your videos of Rome while running is not a cure-all for those who suffer from seasickness!

Thanks for sharing,
David
