Hi @aidanodr ,

Welcome to Connect!

Wow, that is amazing! Thanks for sharing those awesome shots! Did you visit or do you have the pleasure of living there?

Im from the area and live near by. Originally from Cork City itself, but now live closer to Roches point / Cork Harbour in a town called Carrigaline.

Find below a map screen grab from Google Maps. Cork Harbour is ( I think ) the 2nd largest natural deep harbour in the world. It is very large as you can see https://www.portofcork.ie/

Here is the google maps link to the area - https://www.google.ie/maps/@51.8313611,-8.270027,22106m/data=!3m1!1e3?hl=en

I circled certain areas in colours on the map below.

  • In YELLOW is CARRIGALINE area where I am

  • In BRIGHT GREEN is Weavers point where I took the shots from of ROCHES POINT in RED opposite

  • The two DARKER BLUE circles are of Camden Fort Meagher on left ( http://www.camdenfortmeagher.ie/ ) and opposite is Fort Davis. These were used way back by the British ( when they occupied the republic ) to defend the mouth of the harbour

  • In LIGHT BLUE is whats called SPIKE ISLAND … this too started life as a huge fort but became a prison - great tour - https://spikeislandcork.ie/

  • Then circled in ORANGE is the town of Cobh. It is from here that the TITANIC left its last port of call before hitting the Iceberg https://www.titanicexperiencecobh.ie/

  • Top left of the map image is the city of Cork itself
