A bridge is currently being built on Al Thumama Road, and as a result the road will remain fully closed for approximately 3 years. However, Google Maps is still routing users through this road as if it were open.
Affected road: Al Thumama Road, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia
Type of closure: Full closure in both directions
Reason: Bridge construction
Duration: ~3 years (long-term closure, not a temporary one)
Since this is a long-term closure rather than a short-term one, it would really help if this could be reflected accurately on the map so navigation doesn’t keep sending drivers to a dead end. I already tried “Suggest an edit” from the app, but it hasn’t been reflected yet.
Could someone with more experience point me to the right way to get this properly verified and updated, given the closure duration?
Yes, you are perfectly right, Morten.
Saudi Arabia has been “unlocked” few weeks ago and, now, I saw a huge fast growing “editing activities” in that country.
Looking at the map seems that there are lots of activities around this area. Many “new roads” added (well, the orange dotted line are the new roads) and, as you asked, many “fixing” (the white and orange stripped line) activities.
Right click on the map
select report a data problem
select add or fix road
select the full road segment from the begining to the end (one way) (click, click, click …)
select road closed (optinal put the reason and the dates).
click done
click submit.
