I started as a Local Guide when I lived in Richmond, British Columbia. Everyday I always google for places I can go around the City. If no buses go to a certain place, I will take my bike with me. Then friends from everywhere would visit me in Richmond… that’s why, I always find time to discover new places that I could show them around. I also meet new immigrants in the City and I love to show them how beautiful Richmond is and help them be familiar with the transit system, shopping, dining, government offices, community centers and more… I never thought that what I was doing was already being a Local Guide. I joined the “Walk Richmond” to discover new places. For me, Richmond could be one of the best cities in the world. Whatever season it is… it is the best. And it is very conjucive for New Immigrants to Canada to settle as well as a place for visitors to stay. It is only 10 minutes away from the Vancouver International Airport and 30 minutes away from Vancouver Downtown. It is near enough to the Metropolis but far enough from the hustle bustle of a busy Metropolitan. I would say, for a family to settle, Richmond is the best place. Everything in the City is designed for accessibility for people with special needs, the elderly and children. Every corner has a park and kids playground, community centers, sport centers, wellness center and commercial complex. Everyday, there are so many activities that are free for all ages to join. It is one of the most comfortable and safest place to stay. People are very friendly, helpful and accommodating.
