Revisiting The Getty Museum, Los Angeles

In November 2019, for the first time, I visited The Getty Museum in Los Angeles. At that time, they had an exhibition of Manet’s art. That was breath-taking experience. Fast forward 3 months and I visited this place again to find that they have now exhibition of Michelangelo’s drawings. Not only I was surprised, I was elated to see how wonderfully each of these exhibitions and tours for the visitors are coordinated and how well informed the guides were about each of these artists.

If I get a chance to be in Los Angeles again, The Getty Museum will be on my top list of places to visit. The paintings, sculptures and tours are the best part about the museum.

Wonderful experience. Places like this should exist more, a free museum and art centre in Los Angeles that one should definitely visit. They have educational tours at every hour of the art, painting exhibition, garden, architecture and much more. Coming here is an easy task as there are many public buses dropping you off here. Usually people spend 2-3 hours here but if you want to explore more of the history and culture, you should spend around 5 hours. The staff here is the most helpful and friendly. I’ll never forget their hospitality. Special services are available for differently able people. School tours also happen. The gardens are a must visit.

I am very much surprised that it has a free entrance @ArchitOjha ,

Was it crowded when you visited? Who is your favorite painter?

@ArchitOjha I also went there in November 2019. It is a wonderful place and it is free. I was touched by the photo exhibitions of Rio De Janeiro (Gordon Parks: The Flávio Story).

I loved the sunset and view of the vehicle on the road from there.

@VasT It generally has a decent amount of footfall but never feels crowded thanks to acres of space which includes beautiful lush green lawns.

They have different exhibitions going on at different times of the year. I was mesmerized by the impressionist works of Manet.

It’s free all around the year. Surprising, right? Although the parking is 20 USD but even after that it is absolutely worth it. There are buses that directly go there which save even that amount. :innocent:

Wow, you got to see those photo exhibitions! Rio is a beautiful beautiful city. I am glad you loved it.

Yes it is quite surprising, and useful for the Local Guides who have never been there to know about this. Thank you for sharing @ArchitOjha .

Keep Guiding!
