I am having trouble where my reviews with photos are not being posted, regardless of what photos or locations I have tried to post them. In my profile, I can see the tag “Posting”, but the photos have disappeared. Example of my screen is attached below.
On the other hand, reviews without any photos can be posted. This has been ongoing for the past week. Any help is greatly appreciated!
each posted photo is checked by an Artificial Intelligence (AI) for violations against the rules, mainly to protect against SPAM and fraud. If you attach photos to a review and one or more pictures are refused by the AI, the entire review will be hidden. Unfortunately, they don’t give us any explanation, which photo did cause it or for what reason. The only solution I found, was to remove all photos from the review while keeping in “mind” (i.e. in an text editor) their file names and see, if the text is approved, by watching “My Contributions->Reviews” and repeatedly pressing Ctrl-R (browser refresh).
If the text is accepted, you can add one photo a time, each time waiting until approved.
However, also one or more wrong words in the text, can stop the review from being published. I had it in one or two cases and ended up, reducing the text phrase by phrase and later word by word, until I found the “bad” word or even character.
You said ‘I can see the tag “Posting"’: If that stays longer than a couple of minutes (for me, once it hung more than 24 hours), the only solution for me was to delete the entire review (again, save the text with copy/paste to an editor) and create a new one, but without attaching any photos.
Recently, I decided not attach any photos to a review, but directly to the place instead. That makes it easier dto discover and solve hidden reviews or photos.
Thank you for your instructions and explanation. I have tried this method before (write review with no photos, and trying to add one by one) but to no avail. It will post without any photos, and then the review will get stuck again once I add it, it goes back to “Posting”! The points and contributions also decrease correspondingly as if my post is being deleted. It seems weird that it is happening to all my posts rather than specific photos though.
Is there anyway to contact someone from Google Support to check?
@Dynamic-Sparks only some weeks ago I realized I had several reviews and photos hidden, including quite old ones. It was worth scrolling backward in My contributions → Reviews, as well as My contributions → Photos (in date sequence). All photos which did not show the number of views at the upper left, but an attention sign instead (and darker image), I removed immediately after making a note for myself to look at them later. After that, I started working on the reviews, as described above. It seems to me a good practice, to repeat this from time to time, since we learned, even reviews being approved a while ago, can suddenly be hidden.
One thing, I forgot to mention above, I believe:
After removing photos from an review, it happened several times to me that the status went from “Pending” to “Not posted”, but pressing Ctrl-R some more times it was posted anyway!
Just needs patience and I finally was able to clean all. You can verify that by opening a browser tab in private mode and then watching your own profile without logging into Google. Then compare the number of photos and reviews, with the numbers you see, while being logged in. If the numbers differ, you have still hidden photos or reviews,
I experienced the same issue. If I upload photos using the “Add a photo” path, it’s all fine. If I write a review and attach photos there, the photos and the review are blocked. It’s surprising how random is Google’s verification process.
