Hi, two of my recents reviews (long, and detailed) are not posted, wondering why? I always write honest reviews about places that i visited… So it looks that there is no point in writing such detalied reviews…
Hello @Gratak ,
I understand that this is your first post and time on connect, you are highly welcome to the offical site of local guides connect. Needless to say, local guides are volunteers contributing freely to improve Google maps for the use of others and even our own selves as end users of Google maps.
That said I’ll like to offical welcome you by presenting you A welcome to connect card. This card is made specifically to give you a brief orientation course or show you around connect very briefly. Hope you like, please take a look at it. I also realize that you have gotten 2 new badges,
- New writer
- Newly popular badges.
Congratulations and hope you are proud of your badges.
Now regarding your reviews, its an ongoing issue and it’s the AI working to protect legitimate map users from unwanted information. Therefore it is expected if the AI marks your review as private/not posted if it contains certain informations that are not allowed in a review. Have your ever taken a look at the review guidelines?
As regards long reviews,it would seem that of recent detailed but not too long reviews are the thing to do. Do your best to summarize the review adding in the most important information useful and necessary. Have you tried editing and re-posting your reviews? Try that and see hopefully it will work.
Happy guiding
Cheers
Thank you for your answer. I know the guidelines, and I always follow them. Sometimes long reveiew is needed to keep all revelant information.
It would be nice if there was some feedback why the AI flaged my opinion as bad, as for now it’s simply discouraging and will make ppl write less reveiews.
Edit:
Well i checked all my reviews - even the old ones. A lot of them got unpublished. Mostly the negative ones. That makes me think it’s no longer objective and there is no point in publishing anymore. Good job AI.
@Gratak I am having the same issue with several of my comments too. With one of them, a long positive recession, I was struggling for weeks to din out, what word or words might be “wrong”.
Finally, I believe, I discovered the reason:
While sitting at the restaurant, I already uploaded some pictures from my toy computer, aka Smartphone. Later, at my PC I wrote the comment including photos. At this point, I didn’t notice some were duplicate (and Google didn’t complain neither). It seems that AI recognized much later (days, weeks …?) some images as duplicate and even marked them on the upper left, without telling me the reason.
After I noticed that, I did remove all photos from the comment and the error message changed to something similar “Could not upload - try again later”. I did try later without any success.
After several days, I gave up. I copied the complete text of the comment, deleted the comment and created an new one with exactly the same text, but not photos attached … and it was published: https://goo.gl/maps/DgnTHcqUUrYV3sJfA
Hi thx for info - I don’t have any photos added (I’m lousy photographer) ![]()
I think part of the problem may be that me reviews are in polish - and get autotranslated to english. Even 2y old reveiews got unpublished. My friends chcecked their accounts and it looks similar. Not one of them is happy about it ![]()
I don’t trust the results of automated translations neither.
It also happened to me that several years old reviews suddenly were refused and many others were reporting the same here at Connect.
Hello, good morning everyone, I have been looking for where to post my question and I think this is the right one, if not, I apologize. Due to the latest updates to Google Maps when uploading content, I have noticed that none of my new site creations have been approved. I add photos, website, telephone, all the data to make verification easier, but I have realized that of almost 30 new sites, none have been approved. My photos and reviews upload fine, but when adding places it is much more complicated. I also keep this information in case I upload it again at some point. Could a moderator help me? I have read the policy but I don’t see that it breaks any rules, that I know of. More than anything I want to know if I have any type of restriction not to insist since it requires a lot of time invested when you want to create a new site. Then I observe that there are places created with the same characteristics approved without providing hardly any data. Greetings and good day and sorry for the inconvenience. ![]()
