Reviews moved

Greetings

So I was looking over a few of my older reviews and noticed that a number of them have been moved from the shopping center they are about, into one of the local businesses. I didn’t get any notice of this happening and they now don’t make any sense since its about the center not a specific business.

What should I do about these cases? Can I some how fix them or would they have to be deleted?

Thanks.

Hi @JeffreyKnipe , thanks for asking.

A review is always attached to the place where it was posted, what unfortunately sometimes happen can be:

  • The place reviewed by you has been merged to another place
  • Name and category of the place reviewed by you has been changed.

Something similar happened to me times ago (the name of the mall changed and merged into a Japanese restaurant).

A local guide cannot fix this kind of issue, so the best procedure is to report them in the Google Maps Help Community , where the issue can be escalated to the Google Maps team.

Normally in Connect we post this kind of issues using the How Tos label, for receiving support from the moderators and form other Local Guides )What are Connect topics? will help you to understand what are the topics of the community)

You can change the label by yourself, by simply making an edit. Press the three blue dots on your post then click on “edit”. Edit your post - Why and How To will help you

Hello @JeffreyKnipe ,

The How-tos section of Connect is the board where you can share your questions related to the Local Guides program or your Google Maps contributions. To keep Connect more organized, I will move your post there.

In addition to that, I am marking @ErmesT 's reply as a solution, so other Local Guides can refer to it. The purpose of this feature is to help Local Guides find answers when searching on Connect. Please take a look at How do I mark comments as solutions? article.

Hello,

last month some business partners asked me: “Why did you delete your Google review? Are you no longer satisfied with us?”

It seems, none of my reviews (which I can see, when I am logged in) can be seen by other users.

What’s going on?

Kind Regards, Frederik Beyer

Hi @FrederikBeyer

I can confirm from your public profile that you have added 46 reviews and none of them are public.

Google has automatic filters that hide your reviews so only you can see them. This can happen when some of your reviews violate the guidelines, including:
Prohibited and Restricted Content
Format Specific Criteria (See under Text Reviews and Captions)

Read about typical review guideline violations here.

Currently, your issue might not be your fault. Please read Known issue: Unpublished reviews and photos on Google Maps. And, make a reply to request your account also be investigated.

Best of luck
Morten

Hi again @FrederikBeyer

You wrote business partners

Please be aware that according to the Local Guides Program Terms and Conditions
Organizations, brands, and businesses are not eligible for the Program. So we should never mix commercial interests with those of being an independent/volunteer Local Guide.

That could easily be the violation causing your reviews to be hidden.

Cheers

Morten
