I have done over 400 reviews. I have noticed recently that for the last one year rerviews done by me are showing in my contributions but are not showing on the business profiles. What’s the reason and solution to this problem?
Your profile is set to restricted. If you want help to spot what could be the cause, you need to change your privacy setting as explained here temporarily. It can also be done from a Desktop computer. Goto Your contributions, then Profile settings, then toggle Restricted profile.
I have the same issue. I believe it is called shadow banning. As all reviews are considered as public (“Reviews, photos, and ratings are public in Google Maps. You can’t post reviews, photos, or ratings privately on Maps”) changing the privacy settings won’t help. Is there another way to solve this issue?
here is the definition of shadow banning from Wikipedia:
“Shadow banning, also called stealth banning, hellbanning, ghost banning, and comment ghosting, is the practice of blocking or partially blocking a user or the user’s content from some areas of an online community in such a way that the ban is not readily apparent to the user, regardless of whether the action is taken by an individual or an algorithm. For example, shadow-banned comments posted to a blog or media website would be visible to the sender, but not to other users accessing the site.”
That is exactly what happened to my reviews. I haven’t been informed that my review has been taken down and I can still see it myself.
And no one told me why the reviews have been taken down. How can I fix this?
Maybe I was writing too much between the lines. Currently, the moderation is not working correctly. Things that should is not be removed are getting removed. What you experience might not be your fault.
@TraciC Let me know when all of these issues and vulnerabilities get investigated and corrected so that I can continue posting genuine well written original reviews, updates, images, etc. Created from first hand experience.
