Reviews being removed/unpublished

Hi folks,

For some reason a lot of reviews I’ve posted have suddenly been removed or unpublished. Appealing doesnt seem to fix this.

I’ve always taken taken pride in reviewing accurately and only places i have legitimately been to, but one has even been removed as being fake, even though it was a good review.

I don’tunderstand why thisnis happening as some had previously been live for years.

Any suggestions?

Hello, @Barrold, welcome to Local Guides Connect! I’m sorry about your experience. How many of your reviews were removed/unpublished? If there are a few, it can happen sometimes (unfortunately, Google’s system to prevent fraud can sometimes trigger even with legitimate content). If there a lot, it would be important to dig down into it a little bit more. Could you please share at least two of your removed reviews, so other Local Guides and I can try to guess what happened?

Thanks for the reply.

The Vinolo one got taken down for being fake, but clearly not.

Ive has some go back up by clicking “try again” as they said there was an issue uploading, but they’d previously been live.

Makes no sense :man_shrugging:

Under your public profile we can see that you added 170 reviews and currently only 146 are public.

I looked briefly at your public reviews and found no obvious reasons that can explain your issue.

Hello @Barrold,

in some cases Google prevents any reviews being published to certain places, if there were too many suspicious postings detected for that business. So, the they don’t block the local guide (you), but the business. If I remember correctly, this is what the message “Unfortunately, we’re not able to publish this content at this time.” tells us.

Many Local Guides have experienced similar situations where reviews suddenly become hidden or unpublished, even when they are genuine and helpful.

Sometimes the filtering system may automatically flag reviews, especially if there are links, repetitive wording, or certain formatting patterns. Hopefully the moderators can help check your case further. Don’t lose motivation, honest contributions like yours are still valuable for the community :raising_hands:
