Reviewers

  • Has anyone that is a Google contributer expanded their reviewing for other products, or companies based off of their Google reviewer popularity or, length and quality of reviews, or just the fact that you are a popular reviewer? Looking to expand on this part of my life, and hoping to find some help on how to go about this.

Hi @Brock-McCrory

Great question.

Over the years there have been some Local Guides who reported they publish their reviews in parallel on their blog or on FaceBook etc. This did not go well. The spam filter on Google Maps is savvy in detecting this and negative sanctions will come down.

I guess, your way forward would be to find a publisher who would like to hire you. A newspaper or a magazine maybe.

There are other online food, logging, and tourist attraction review sites. But Google Maps will check all of these and block you if you reuse your text on more platforms.

Best of luck

I’m more inquiring about the possibilities of reviewing more, different items, such as tools, gadgets, etc. Wondering if anyone found their Google reviewer statistics helpful in securing companies to allow them to try their products.

I think the question is dope and I want to know as well how I can capitalize on my Google local guide success

I get what you saying because me too I have invested a lot of time into Google Maps and my local guide account I would love to see and find ways on using it to make money but also get different opportunities. If that’s possible. Remember I don’t want to violate any of Google’s terms or Community guidelines I just want to do what I love which is provide value to the Google Maps users and also just be aware of opportunities that I can take advantage of.

Are we kind of on the same page?

@Drudacreator @Brock-McCrory making any personal gain from Local Guides is against the rules.

If you want to make something out of your reviews then you might be better off on a platform that encourages it such as Yelp.
