Hello everyone,
I am a Level 8 Local Guide from Japan, and I would appreciate your advice regarding a review that does not appear publicly.
The issue is limited to one specific business. My review is visible in my own account, but it is not visible to anyone else.
Here is what happened:
- I originally posted a review of approximately 1,600 characters.
- After waiting for about one week, it was still visible only to me.
- I deleted the review.
- About one week later, I posted a much shorter version (less than 400 characters).
- Unfortunately, the second review is also visible only to me.
To better understand the cause, I performed several tests:
- Reviews that I post for other businesses are published normally.
- Recent reviews from other customers for this business are publicly visible.
- As a troubleshooting step, I tested with another Google account only to determine whether the issue was account-specific. The result was exactly the same: the review was visible only to that account and not publicly visible.
Based on these tests, it seems that:
- My Local Guide account is not restricted.
- My device or IP address is probably not the cause.
- The problem appears to affect only my reviews for this particular business.
The review is based entirely on my own experience. It contains no offensive language, no links, no promotional content, and no AI-generated text. It simply describes my visit and my experience with the business.
I have also noticed that I do not have an “Appeal” option available for this review.
Has anyone experienced a similar situation?
- Could this be a false positive from Google’s spam detection system?
- Is there any way to request a manual review when the “Appeal” option is not available?
- Are there any other troubleshooting steps you would recommend?
Thank you very much for your time and any advice you can offer.
