On Saturday, the 31st of October, 2020, while many people around the world got together to celebrate Halloween, 39 participants which included my amazing Co-host; Guru Krishna Priya Sreenath and me, gathered together to talk about Transportation in our various countries.
Among those who shared are;
- GURU KRISHNA PRIYA SREENATH @Gurukrishnapriya from Chennai, India
who shared with us; the History and Art of Transportation. Her Presentation took us to some important places and landmarks around the world which includes; London Tower Bridge which is a bridge that opens up to allow Ship or tall boats pass through, Eiffel Tower, Paris, France , a cruise in Switzerland, the London eye,
Isle of Wight, Brighton and a Public exhibition that had both Steam Engines, model bikes from Harley Davidson, Ford Vehicles, Micro cars, etc. She shared some ‘drawing, sketching and painting tips’ with us and told of how children have moved these days from drawing to actually creating stuffs out of Newspaper! It was indeed a beautiful presentation!
- INDAH NURIA SAVITRI @indahnuria from Jakarta, Indonesia
who shared with us major forms of transportation from Indonesia and New York city with specific attention and focus on Water Transportation. Her presentation covered; Lampung, the largest archipelago state in Indonesia, the Kiluan Open bay and the major forms of transportation along her snorkeling and diving spots. The most fascinating (to me) of all the vehicles of Transportation she shared is the Pinisi, that can travel as far as Africa due to its strenght! Catch up on all of the fun in the Photo Album and/or the Video recap.
- SHRUTI MANJREKAR @Shrut19 from Mumbai, Maharashtra, India
who shared with us several forms of transportation; Road, Rail, Sea. Her Presentation took us to the Gorai Beach on a Ferry boat, she showed how people could get into the ferry even with their bikes and also explained what each would cost.
- FALGUNI PALEJA @FalguniP from Mumbai, Maharashtra, India
who shared with us the 'colors of transportation’ across India and how one could tell which region of the country they were, the purpose of the vehicle (student, public) due to the colors of the vehicles. Also, she shared with us the 'lockdown situation’ on how movement was still restricted only to Personal vehicles and flights but only that on emergency too.
- SHREEYA BARAI @Shreeya_99 from Mumbai, Maharashtra, India
who shared with us the most common form of transportation used in Mumbai; the train! which is literally considered to be the ‘lifeline of Mumbai’. Joining her in discussing this was @Tejal Together, they shared with us on how the trains did not move only between the hours of 2 and 4:30a.m., of how every part of the city was connected by the Trains, of how there were three lines; “Western, Central and Harbour” and how there was a ‘ladies Special train’ that picked only women during peak hours. It was fun listening to them talk about this enthusiastically especially of how they had no accident history.
- DEVI DIMITRA MAKSUM @Ddimitra from Jakarta, Indonesia
who shared with us the most common forms of transportation around Jakarta; majorly the Becak, the Bajaj and the Gojek (online bike transportation) and recently the M.R.T. (Mass Rapid Transit). It was a very brief and insightful presentation.
- PATRICK DAUDU @MrFreez from Lagos, Nigeria
who shared with us how to get a Drivers’ License in Nigeria. The Procedure similar to many others in the world (find a compilation below). He went on to share on how one could opt to get a Driver’s license with either 3 years validity or 5 years validity. The issuing body being the Federal Road Safety Corps. Before taking us to the ‘Maritime world of Lagos’. He took us through both cargo transportation, public water transportation and leisure transportation available via the various cruises offered on the Lagos Island. He was in the company of his beautiful daughter who added color to his presentation via her cute distractions. I guess she wanted a share of her bearded Father’s attention not sure, just saying. Catch his presentation from 01:11:28 of the TinY-CO video.
- ZINO OTUORIMUO @Zino from Abuja, Nigeria
who shared with us how the most common form of transportation in Nigeria was by personal vehicles and by buses, autorickshaw, Tricycles and Motorbikes. She highlighted how the several vehicles of transportation had "cool nicknames", which made you know the level of comfort to expect in each of these vehicles. It was a heart-warming presentation that left everyone giggling and interested in Nigeria
- JAGATHJIVANRAM THULASIRAM from Chennai, India
who shared with us the other ‘vehicles’ of transportation in India; which includes; Donkeys which the 'washermen’ use in carrying clothes for laundry and the palanquin used in lifting and carrying people across long distances especially used in mountainous regions.
