Tamaki, I wanna go to Kobe!!
My friend in Bangkok texted me in Last December.
Yeah, please rely on me!!
I replied.
The more we talked about foods while in Kobe, the more differences in the food preference
between my friend and I came out.
Thai people really love Japanese rice!!!
so, I will introduce five restaurants
that my friend said “I never know such a nice meal! Never seen in tourist guidebooks. ”
1 **Kobe steak Sakurai (**神戸ステーキ 桜井)
I think Sakurai is one of the most famous Kobe beef restaurants among foreign people. As it is near to World Memorial Hall (big concert hall) in Port Island, many famous artists and athletes come.
The owner is a very friendly person and speaks English. You can tell him your budget first, and he will give you the best plan.
They accept only Amex and Cash.
**2 Kyonami Nomura (**京菜味のむら)
If you want to have a typical type of Kyoto breakfast, you had better go. Breakfast has rice, four dishes, miso soup, and tea. And it costs only 600Yen!!! You can choose dishes from the show window.
You can use English when you order the menu.
3 **Misokaan Kawamichiya (**晦庵 河道屋)
A little bit distance from the main street, the Soba restaurant is there. If you have difficulties to sit down on the Tatami in the Japanese way, you can use another room with chairs. Although it is a small restaurant, it is very popular among Steve Jobs’ fans. (he loved to come)
The soba is one of the most delicious in Kansai area, as it has a very old history (over 300yrs)
Also, shop staffs speak English.
**4 Hakata motsunabe Yamaya (**博多モツ鍋 やまや)
Motsunabe is the hot pot of the internal organs of beef or pork. The internal organs! It sounds strange, many people think. It used a lot of garlic, and some rich tastes have people divided between those who love it and those who hate it. I am a person who is crazy about it. At first, I really hesitated to invite to have a hotpot there, and I eagerly explain to her how it is. My friend seemed to have interests to try this.
She said “why Thai people do not know this kind of hot pot!!! Yamaya should have a branch store in Bangkok!!”
Shop clerks did not seem to accustomed to have foreign customers, but they were so kind to us. ( Speak English awkwardly)
**5 Nana Farm (**ナナファーム)
Nana farm is the market and restaurant deals with fresh products direct from the farm. It has very cheap, fresh and delicious products. My friend and I went there every 2days.
We bought fruits ( she said Japanese fruits tastes like gorgeous sweets), sushi (fresh from nearest ports) and bento ( lunch to go). On the 2nd floor, there are 2 restaurants. One is Yakiniku (barbecue style of Kobe beef) and the other is the sushi restaurant.
This market and restaurant are for locals, and you had better go with your Japanese speaker friends.
