Restaurant owner hijacked a mall venue, and changed it into their own shop

I just found that an art mall venue “The Mills” near my workplace (https://goo.gl/maps/WqsRcYEV4VPdTLkG9) has been changed into a restaurant venue (“Honbo” a burger place) inside that mall. The photos and reviews apparently show that the venue was the mall itself.

I tried to edit it but my edit was split into “closing of the restaurant” and “creating a new venue”, which the former one was immediately “not applied” due to “Google couldn’t verify your edit” (technically the restaurant isn’t closed either).

Is there some way to revert the restaurant owner’s edit (which I would call a “hijack”)? And prevent such hijacks from happening again?

Hi @oscarchung

If you close the restaurant and all older reviews and photos of the mall now are on that pin those reviews and photos will be lost for good. So please be careful.

I think a Moderator can help you. I’m tagging @DeniGu for you.

Thank you both!

My edit was to change the name back to “The Mills” from “Honbo The Mills”, and remove the restaurant’s info. Somehow the system turned it into “closing of current venue” and “creating a new one”. lol

I’m also worried that if those edits got approved, the original venue’s photos and reviews will be lost. >_<
