The family garden of Bardhaman Maharaja (the King of Bardhaman) is known as Golapbag (English: Rose Garden). It is situated on 398 acres of land which is encircled by a canal. Presence of large number of valuable plants and water bodies has made the campus very attractive.
During their short stay, they used a building which was partially in the water of a large tank. In the original construction there was a provision of water passage into a large part of the building in such a manner that nobody from outside could see who was in the water. Now it has been renovated and the present structure does not include this facility.
At present, the academic campus of The University of Burdwan is situated at this place.
