Some decades ago maps are mere paper with drawings showing the road path to desired destination. It’s not responsive or interactive in anyway.
With technology advancement Google map is answerable and accessible any day anytime. For me, answering questions about accessibility and giving details about a location is what I love sharing most on Google Map as a #LocalGuide. Am excited doing this because it’s easy for me to freely give what is within my reach. I do this to give a feel of a place even before the person requesting visits and the response has being remarkably encouraging.
A good example is checking to know if the place i visited has good packing spaces for cars and wheelchair, clean rest room, good customer care, wheel chair accessibility, playing corner for kids, to mention but a few.
I once visited a portable and notable ice cream store in my city. The store is located within Lagos state Nigeria and well known for varieties of Ice-creams. One day, someone on Google map asked if the store work late on Sundays, which is not common in the part of the world am in. That day, I realized as a #LocalGuide that detailed information about the location we post on Google map is important.
My main reason for doing this is simply to support someone with adequate and appropriate information required to access their desired location. The idea behind this is to make the map more eco-friendly as a #localguide. For this reason, I take my time to ask questions, look around anywhere I go perhaps someone somewhere someday may need my guide. It’s about being the right answer to someone’s quest.
Thank you!
