Hey everybody! I’m sure that you’ve seen the news and read the “not a farewell” post by @TraciC (and if you haven’t, do give it a read!). I’m sure we’re all saddened by the news but also super excited to see Traci explore new avenues and continue to share her amazing skills with the rest of Google!
I am thrilled and delighted to share that I will be having an interview/chat with Traci in the coming days before she leaves the Local Guides program. It will be a recorded session and once post production is completed, it will be publicly shared on YouTube. My target is to release it on the 16th of December, Traci’s last day on the program!
I have some questions in mind already but I really wanted to give the community a chance to ask some questions of their own as well! I am keeping the interview brief so I am looking to only ask around 6-8 questions. If you have a burning question that you would like Traci to answer, please provide them in the comments below. One question per person, so choose wisely. Please also mention where you are from! The deadline is the end of 8th December and I will decide on the final selection of questions to present to Traci.
This is kinda my way to give back to Traci and show my appreciation for all the amazing things that she has done for the program! I would highly recommend that the community rally together and do something special as well for her and publish it any time between 13th-16th December! There are so many active communities around the world and it would be super awesome if each one could do something special!
Or you could do something special by yourself too (rather than a group activitiy). And if you’re stuck for some ideas, here are some of mine:
put together a video with your local community sharing a message to Traci; this can be posted under Local Stories.
write a post under Travel inviting Traci to come visit your town/city/country listing down all the amazing places that she could see
write a post under Photography (or Local Stories) and share a number of photos showing how the Local Guides program, thanks to Traci and her team, have helped you
if you like baking, you could bake a cake with a lovely message on top and share it under the Food & Drinks category
take a page from Traci’s post and share your personal journey in the Local Guides program
Anyway, thanks for hearing me out and I look forward to your questions! Oh, and just a reminder, please do read Traci’s post as well since it may already contain some answers to your question!
I am game !!! Am in on these as usual. Will try a post under food and drinks. What’s your advise of the wordings on the cake? It might just be a solo one.
I have sent out my shout out to her already but will do a post again it’s necessary.
MY QUESTION: What’s TracIC’s most memorable or interesting or thrilling moments and time on connect?
I am Shola from the South south of Nigeria from the city of Port Harcourt in Rivers state
@AdrianLunsong Thanks for this effort, it will be lovely.
My question to @TraciC would be - In this over 5 years running and managing the Local Guides program, there would have been many events, programs, meetups, trips and community efforts with the many Local Guides community around the world. And I am sure each one of them is amazing! If you can pick 2 or 3 most memorable ones to you and share it with us on your experiences, the people and friends you met there, and happiness from that event. It would be amazing for us to know and share in nostalgia .
Question: How do you do it? I’m sure your day-to-day job entails hundreds of meetings per month; how do you manage that? What has kept you going over the years (particularly with the LocalGuides programme)?
P.S. I’d like to request the LocalGuides team to please issue a special badge to @TraciC , so that everytime she signs back on Connect, it should remind her that how much we love her and YES, we are very thankful.
I had a question in my mind for a long time, and today it’s time to ask. And I asked this question before In ask a Googler, but didn’t get answer.
So here is my question
Hi @TraciC , you are like a Celebrity and the most famous person among the Community of 150 Million Local Guides.
Have you ever Experienced that any Local Guide from any country recognized you in a market, or tourist place and was so excited, and asked for a selfie and autograph except Connect Live events?
I hope one day I can meet you somewhere in the world, and ask your autograph and selfie from you
Firstly I would like to thank Traci for the wonders she has done for building up this community.
My question is all this year she must have visited to many accessibility places.
I wanted to ask her which place she could remember also after years and she could set and example ok this place is completely accessible in every way like " front door entrance to the toilet" If this could be everywhere the world would be more nice to everyone.
My name is Pratik Tanna I am from India I am local guide level 7.
Can’t wait, @AdrianLunsong - I’m sure that the interview will have me laughing throughout and tearing up by the end of it call cause it’ll truly hit home (even more than it has been!). Fantastic ideas for those looking to share in their recognition and appreciation for Traci.
Hello @AdrianLunsong thank you for this great initiative!
Hi @TraciC firstly, I would like to thank Traci for what you have done for local guides. My question is, what is the proud moment of Local Guides Program?
I hope I can meet you (in person ) oneday - dells from Indonesia
@AdrianLunsong what a nice gesture my friend! I agree, Traci has been no less than terrific all these years and I am pretty pure she will ace it anywhere she goes… waiting to watch the interview!
Good one @AdrianLunsong and sorry to jump in late on this one just been very busy on other things. A question for Tracy, of all the National Parks that you’ve visited, which do you recommend I visit on my planned trip back visiting family in May 2022.
This is wonderful, @AdrianLunsong . I will eagerly and anxiously look forward to see the interview. Traci has been inspiration to many of us, not just for her dedication to the program but also for her enthusiasm and happy-go-lucky attitude. I have several questions to ask her, but as I am limited to just one, my question to her will be:
“if you were not a local guide, what else would you be to make a difference or how else would you contribute to the community?”
“Dear Traci, there is no doubt that the Local Guide program has brought you to know many people over the years especially thanks to Connect Live: what struck you most about these events?”
@AdrianLunsong I know I’m too late for the question submission, but I’m happy to see some other really great suggestions in the comments section!
I was thinking from an introspective position for Traci, what it must have been like when she first began vs. now:
Did she have a vision of what it would become?
Or was she just given a goal from corporate?
Did she fulfill this and or surpass it?
Because for many people when they begin a ‘job’ or a project within a company, they are given tasks to fulfill… but sometimes there are those like Traci who seem to have a map and it has the way to the castle… like the famous board game Candy Land!!! This is how I see her journey… but I wonder if it was really like this!?
And if it was… what color piece was she on the game board!? Red, Yellow, Blue or Green!?
(This was my favorite board game as a kid - I used to imagine being the characters in it!.. Now I can’t imagine myself getting out of bed in the morning )
Maybe someone can take all her experiences from her journey and create a board game!
Would it be a ‘roll the dice’ game, ‘strategy’ game, or ‘buy a lot of real estate’ game!?
@AdrianLunsong I am always impressed with your creativity and ideas. Here is a questions for @TraciC , I know Traci Loves to visit National Parks, which are the top 2 National Parks she has visited so far? Will definitely contribute to posts you have suggested.
I’m so mesmerized to see when you come up with new ideas all the time @AdrianLunsong So proud of you.
It’s hard for us to accept @TraciC is leaving us already. But still happy for her pursuing a new path in her life. She deserves a grand farewell for sure.
My question is;
When there’s a change happening in your life, that you’ve not expected, something you don’t want, but still you have to deal with it. It can be related to family or friends or can be professional too. How do you manage it? How do you accomodate to that changes you don’t like?
Sorry my question is not connect or maps related. But I’ll be glad to hear her perspective.
