Hello Local Guides Team,
I hope this message finds you well.
My name is Ali, and I’m a Level 5 Local Guide based in Baghdad, Iraq. I’ve been actively contributing to Google Maps through reviews, photos, and edits to help improve the accuracy and experience of the map in my area.
However, I’ve noticed that many places in Baghdad cannot be edited or corrected — especially street names, addresses, and certain location details. Whenever I try to suggest an edit, I receive a message saying:
“We can’t process edits in this region at the moment.”
I completely understand there may be regional restrictions due to security or policy reasons. But I’d like to request that Baghdad be considered for future unlocking of map-editing capabilities — even if gradually or with limited access.
The city has a growing digital community, and many users like myself are eager to improve the accuracy and usefulness of Google Maps in Iraq. We’d love the opportunity to contribute more directly to the map’s quality.
Thank you for all the amazing tools and support. Looking forward to hearing from you.
Best regards,
Ali
