Hello Connect Moderators and Team,
I am writing to request assistance regarding an incorrect place name on Google Maps that keeps getting rejected when I try to edit it.
The marketplace is currently named “Faugan Bazar”, but the officially recognized government spelling for this area is “Faogain”. I have attempted to submit edits to correct the name and add a valid phone number, but as shown in my attached screenshots, the edits were marked as “Not accepted”.
To ensure data accuracy on Google Maps, I am providing official government evidence below:
Current Incorrect Name on Maps: Faugan Bazar
Correct Official Name: Faogain Bazar (ফাওগাইন বাজার)
Official Government Proof: The Bangladesh Post Office official portal clearly lists the area name as “Faogain” under the Sreepur, Gazipur region.
Official Source URL: গাজীপুর পোস্ট কোড | পাতা | ডাক অধিদপ্তর
Plus Code / Location: 3FG9+7MH, Faugan Bazar, Sreepur, Gazipur, Bangladesh.
Attached Evidence for Review:
Screenshot 1: My rejected edit history showing “Not accepted” for the name change to Faogain and phone number update.
Screenshot 2: A screenshot from the official Bangladesh Post Office portal (post.portal.gov.bd) highlighting the correct spelling: Faogain.
On-ground Photos: I have also attached real-time photos of the marketplace area (showing local shops like ‘Bizli Cables’ and a pharmacy banner confirming the location in Sreepur, Gazipur) to prove that this is indeed the local commercial hub.
Could a Google Moderator or a Product Expert please escalate this issue and help update the marketplace name to its correct official spelling?
Thank you for your time and support in keeping Google Maps accurate.
Best regards,
Sikto
