Report Local Guide Abuse

I have a classic google local guide review abuse case to report. Please walk me through the process on How I can do that

Case # 1 : Individual never used our services or interacted with us, just left one star. This is a spam but i see no way to report (with description) to google in My Local Business

Case # 2 : Individual came for interview. he was not hired and in response left a one star review with no comments/description.

How can i get both these in google’s investigation ?

@aarsalan If you are enquiring about issues directly relating to your business, or a business you are helping to manage, LG Connect isn’t the right place for it. Please head on to the GMB forum to seek help there. Here are notes that will be useful for yourself.

Hi @aarsalan @StephenAbraham has given you the right information.

Additionally this is not an idea.

@PaulPavlinovich , @StephenAbraham , thanks so much for the support.

@aarsalan , as Paul suggested, I’m moving your post out of the Idea Exchange and into the How-tos section of the community. You can have a look at the How do I use the Idea Exchange? article for more information.

Dear Moderator,

I have tried to find an answer through google search engine, but was not able to find good solution for this.

How to report on a google local guide, who is abusive and racial profiling? I know that there is a flag to report this, but seems to be not working even after I flagged.

While I understand if general reviewer does these things, but if reviewers under the disguise of “Google’s Local Guide” behave inappropriately, how to reach out to Google directly and report such abusive activity?

Thank you

Sampath

Hi @MashaPS I have a problem with a local guide (level 5) spamming multiple businesses in the phoenix area. How can I report him and have all the fake reviews and spammy photos removed?

Hi @hpbrad ,

Thanks for reaching out.

I will contact you privately on this matter. Please be sure to check your private messages inbox.

I have a problem with a local guide spamming local businesses with photos of their own stock:

a local business have established a local guide listing and given hundreds of local guide reviews so that they are able to access and leave photos on other peoples gmb listing

The photos that they then place on other peoples listing are not pictures that represent the business they are reviewing, they are actually photos of their own stock of antiques etc to which they then attach a link so that if someone clicks onto the link they are taken to the gmb page of the antiques business

The problem is that as our business is specialising in pet products if local people then look at our listing they are given the impression that we also deal in antiques and collectables and may dismiss us as not being specialist.

How can i report them or stop them from ruining my gmb page

Thanks in advance

Hi @MashaPS Moderator,

I have same problem with that person who wrote comment to you. Only difference is our business lines.

How can i report them or stop them from ruining my gmb page

Hello @BurakKoc ,

Thanks for reaching out.

Please note that I am going to send you a private message with instructions how to proceed further.

@MashaPS how do i report a few local guides who have been leaving reviews on new google business listing to help boost the visibility of the listing when the listing is also of not a place/co that is truly appropriate.

Hi @JeffLeeN ,

You can flag the profiles of users who you see posting incorrect information on Google Maps following the steps bellow:

  • Click on the user name in the list of Reviews/Photos they contributed or the Question/Answer they posted to get to their profile page.
  • Click on the three dot icon.
  • Choose ‘Report’ on iOS or ‘Report profile’ on Android.

More about this you may find in the You can now report entire profiles for abuse on Google Maps article.

Thanks

@MashaPS But if i report the individual user, how i see is that individually they all may seem legit as they are doing reviews for variety of places. The problem is this “mastermind” has been getting these same few individual guides to review on a few google business listings(even when the place does not exist, mainly to lead geenrate) to boost the listing visibility if you get what i mean.
