Renaming a wrongly named town.

My home town is wrongly named Lwensinga on google maps, what can I do to make sure the name is changed. The right name should be Mbiriizi

I have different options like Suggest an edit - but its not available for areas, I have also tried the Send feedback option but there is no option for sending feedback on an area.

How can I make this change happen, this is my home town and I am not happy about it having a wrong name.

You should click “Your opinion about this map” - the last section then submit that the name of the town is wrong and you should attach a screenshot of the map or upload any evidence for the name of that town/area as well.

Thanks for comment, I already tried this option and it only works for places like names of businesses, not areas which are towns or villages.

Thanks @Nghia-Vo , I have submitted my opinion using your suggestion, will let you know if it works.

Hi Moderators @ErmesT @Bobiisha

I reported this issue using the Send feedback feature, but I never got any response and the issue was never fixed.

Is there anything else you can advise I can do to help get the problem fixed?

Hello @Bobiisha

Any feedback from your teams?

Hi!

My hometown, Iléṣà (Ọsun, Nigeria) has been erroneously named as Ilerin. Ilesa happens to be the capital city of Ijesaland and this is really a misnomer.

To put it in context, it’s like labelling about 85% of London “Peckham!” Again, many of the streets are either wrongly named or have wrong spellings. Been trying to fix this for a while to no avail. Fixing this once and for all will create a better user experience

Please seek help with this in the Maps support forum.

Hit the Community tab at the top and make a post. You need to attach or link to official documentation supporting the change you are proposing. Copyright-free governmental maps are probably the best proof you can attach.

Without such official documentation, you will not be successful.

Thank you so much!

I’ll do that
