This city is linked to lord krishna. There is old belief related to this city, that is lord krishna used to reside in Dwarka (city made of gold). And this golden city of Dwarka is submerged in sea.
The mention was found in an inscription near bhavnagar, palitana.
The current temple in dwarka was built hundred of years back. The temple is known as dwarkadhish temple or jagat mandir. The temple is constructed in nagara style of architecture. It has two gates(dwar), moksh dwar and swarg dwar.
The temple is situated on the Bank of river Gomati.
The flag hoisted on the top of the temple is changed four to five times a day.
