Being a Local resident of Lodhi Road at Delhi, the capital city of India, a recent initiative by the St + art foundation in partnership with the CPWD ( Central Public Works department) has created a buzz in the local residents and others by rejuvenating the streets through Mural Paintings. The first Public Art District has been created in the Lodhi Colony Area with the assistance of Asian Paints.
The Murals have been painted on the external walls of the houses across streets of Lodhi Road between Mehar Chand and Khanna Market, the famous markets of the South Delhi. The streets are located between the Second Avenue and fifth Avenue roads.
The Murals have been created depicting a theme and livened up with bright colours. The Murals depict themes of history, environment concerns, spirit of unity, contributions of the people, the women empowerment, the future progress in science etc
The Murals are attracting people to Lodhi Colony to appreciate the art and new looks of the streets. Many groups, especially on weekends throng this place and are seen taking snaps and selfies against these paintings. These Murals have transformed a government officers residential colony into living streets
Such an creative initiative would certainly help in encouraging young ones an interest in arts and paintings. The Unleashing of the creativity on the streets is the talk of the town.
The bright colours and creative energy has filled the streets and brought a fresh perspective of care and maintenance of our surroundings and environment.
This whole moment is going to motivate other cities to adopt and Rejuvenate their Streets
