Rejected edit to correct a road's name while on vacation in late June 2023

@ErmesT

I went to Lakewood, Colorado in late June and returned after US Independence Day. The vacation was in the greater Denver metro area.

We went to Texas Roadhouse to the south-southwest of where we stayed in a different town. I did not drive but helped with directions. When we returned to the hotel, my friend needed gas (for his vehicle). I used GasBuddy (app) to find better prices. Sorry, I do not want to bring a different issue at the same time but must. We stopped at Murphy Express (Murphy USA on Google Maps another rejected edit) for fuel. I added photo of the newer gas station while there. Since that is owned by Murphy USA but a Murphy Express, I type the actual name. Murphy Express has an address that is 6455 S Kipling Way, Littleton, CO 80127. That address is important.

I tried to change the address of County Road 25 (possibly correct) from South Kipling Parkway to West Coal Mine Avenue to West Kipling Way since that is labeled as South Kipling Parkway also. I left Denver and Colorado on July 5, 2023. Yesterday, I learned my edits were rejected. I use screenshots from Google Maps to try to make my case. No, I did not change all of South Kipling Parkway. You helped me with a former Kum & Go in Little Rock, Arkansas in the past. I do not have the email sent from Google.

@Androoh ,

Without an email screenshot from your side, it may not be easier to ahead in this. See, if you can edit those road names again and keep the mail you receive right after editing the maps(if the first decision has already been made,).

Do not forget to share the coordinates for both roads.

@deepakjhic ,

I looked and found the 2 email but had to look in my inbox and not important folder. Here is what I had. I include Murphy USA or Express first. I did not receive any emails stating these were rejected or not applied. I found that information in Google Maps by accident. I will do as you suggest and try again.

I did what was suggested.

Hello @Androoh ,

I am still waiting for the coordinates.

Also, please supply the full screenshots, as of now I have no idea how many edits you have made.

Additionally, when you make edits on Google Maps you have to wait for up to two weeks before we escalate this for you.

Keep me posted

Hi @Androoh , and thank you for tagging me.

With the increased amount of contributions about road editing (see here the post from the team: Thank you for mapping 50,000 roads on Google Maps! about the TRAC started by @SholaIB ) the edits are approved by priorities, within a time-frame of around 90 days. What cannot be approved in 90 days is automatically Not Approved, to avoid an infinite list of pending Items.

Road name is very low in the priorities of the approval process, while new roads in populated areas are on the top of the list.

However this kind of issues are normally fixed by the automatic acquisition of the name from the images in street view or by reporting it through the Google Maps Help Community. I am sure @deepakjhic can do it for you providing the link to the coordinates ( https://maps.app.goo.gl/cio3V4ZXG42aozx36 ).

In any case you are correct, both roads should have the name changed to “West” instead of “South”.

@deepakjhic , here below the two positions embedded

@ErmesT thank you for the additional details and making it clear.

As of now, the edit from @Androoh is just 4 days old and 14 days is the standard wait time until we ping the maps team.

Keep me posted if there are no changes until 12th October.

On the other hand, the name of that business can only be modified by the business owner or the person who claimed it. If a maps user is trying to modify the name of it, then it will be a waste of time and may impact the trust score negatively.

If this does not change, I will do.

You are welcome, @deepakjhic

I was referring to the “old” edit submitted on June 28 that we can see n the first post. That edit has been rejected due to the 90 days time limit

Hello @Androoh ,

As per the details here and verified by me, I have just escalated this issue to the maps team and shall keep you posted further on this if anything else is required from your side.

@ErmesT Thank you for that but without an email screenshot, it is not possible to escalate any issue.

Unfortunately Google Maps do not sent an email for “Not Accepted” edits, @deepakjhic . The only notification is on our contributions tab in our profile in Google Maps

Hello @ErmesT ,

I’m aware of that. It was a road edit and when a user makes a road edit it will send an automatic mail saying that we’re reviewing it or pending. That is the mail screenshot I was asking for and the same you can understand via the above discussion.

I’ve got your point @deepakjhic , but a screenshot of our profile should have the same value.

Honestly I do not keep the 20 thousand plus “thank you” emails from Maps related to my edited roads.

In any case thanks

Hello @Androoh ,

Based on the latest update, the issue has been fixed. Let me know if there is anything else yo want to update.

Hello @ErmesT

You are on a different level here at Connect. I believe but am not sure that you must have a private channel to escalate issues. Users here and in the forums come with the issues of single or a few roads/addresses. :slightly_smiling_face:

@deepakjhic ,

I attempted to remove part of a title from War Memorial Park Natural Play Area and Pavilion since that is located next to the already named War Memorial Park Pavilion in Little Rock, Arkansas. I also attempt on the other Google website to officially add War Memorial Park to Google Maps. When I tried to remove and Pavilion from the name, I did not receive an email. However, I can look at Google Maps and see the name I submitted on October 20 was not accepted. The best that I can do since I received no email is show you my edit attempt and the redundancy on the name on Google Maps. I do not see why Pavilion should be in both names. That was changed recently.

Hello @Androoh

I am still waiting for your reply on the modification of that road. Do confirm if the changes are correct or if you want to see more changes in it.

For other issues, kindly refer to the Google Maps support forum.

@deepakjhic ,

Yes, this was corrected in Littleton. Here is a partial screenshot from Google Maps. That was fixed.

Nope, @deepakjhic , I do not have any direct reporting path, I simply have a background of 10,000+ roads approved, and more than two years of observation of the evolution of the road editor.

In the road editor names are normally not kept in consideration, due to the low priority of the “name” itself.

In addition of the the most common way for Google to acquire names of roads is, when available, what they can get directly from street view.

What I mean is that this kind of edit, when submitted through the road editor, will probably not be approved due to the low priority (rejected after the 90 days time limit)

So to correct the name of a road the best option is to report it through the Google Maps help Community.

@Androoh , please avoid adding additional issues on a single post. If you have different issues please write separate posts
