Google and more specifically the local guides have done a tremedous job the last few years of adding every single beautiful spot, delicious restaurant, and business around. It has actually been difficult trying to find a spot not already posted about. However, there are businesses that have been lost amongst the crowd. Due to a lack of remodel, obscure location, or just bad luck, many businesses were hidden and Google Maps has been able to rediscover them. Hopefully, never again will a fantastic business get shutdown from a lack of attention.
My favorite privelege of being a local guide is to rediscover these unique businesses. Especially when it is underrated or in an weird location. The primary goal i have as a local guide is to make sure everyone that deserves success but hasn’t been recognized is found, rediscovered, and praised for their hard work. The most difficult factor i face as a local guide is giving the business a correct rating and review. In fact the hardest measure is giving a business a 5 star rating. I personally look for something unique, reimagined in a new light, or beyond the tastebud scale.
This should be the most important aspect for business owners and managers. Do not strive to sell yourself to the customer, the local guide, or anyone else. Continue to succeed in making the most unique and important product you can, then let local guides spread the word and be your best advertisers we can be.
