Recommended Chinese Food Restaurant for Family

金木 / jin mu in English means Golden Wood is a Chinese food restaurant that has several branch in Pantai Indah Kapuk, Pluit Village, and Lippo Mal Puri. Me and my family visited Jin Mu at Lippo Mal Puri. The restaurant is tidy, clean, and comfortable to stay in a longer time and having a quality time with your loved one.

The service here is good and friendly. Jin Mu serves a lot of Chinese food variant, such as dumpling, xiao long bao, noodle, rice, main dish with pork, chicken, beef, fish, seafood, vegetables, and many more.

Here are what we tried :

蛋酥花枝 / dan su hua zhi / Crispy Fried Squid Coated with Jala Sauce (IDR 65,000)
Crispy fried squid with sweet and savory mayonnaise sauce served on a yellow cripsy in a nest shaped. Tastes good and believe me, one is not enough :smile:

鸡肉炒米粉 / ji rou chao mi fen / Stir Fried Beehon with Shredded Chicken (IDR 55,000)
Fried thick and chewy corn beehon with chicken, fried egg, vegetables.

香菇菠菜红烧豆腐 / xiang gu bo cai hong shao dou fu / Braised Chefmade Beancurd with Shimeji and Horenzo Spinach (IDR 65,000)
This is a MUST dish that my family loves, so that we always have this wherever we come to a Chinese food restaurant that serves this menu. Six pieces of thick and soft beancurd with shimeji mushroom and spinach.

猪肉炸酱面 / zhu rou zha jiang mian / Noodle served with Minced Pork with Zhajiang Sauce in Chicken Broth (IDR 29,000)
What a good deal! We could get the promo for Zhajiang Noodle in this visit from IDR 49,000 became IDR 29,000. We could choose the topping, such as pork and chicken. We chose pork. A bowl of long and thick hand-pulled noodle served with minced pork in savory Zhajiang sauce, boiled egg, vegetables, along with the broth. Tastes good and recommended!

韭菜猪肉水饺 / jiu cai zhu rou shui jiao / Boiled Dumpling filled with Minced Pork and Chives (IDR 55,000)
At Jin Mu, there are fried dumpling, boiled dumpling, xiao long bao with the variant of filling, such as pork, chicken, brassica rapa, chives, cabbages, celery, and many more. We chose boiled dumpling filled with pork and chives to make it more delicious. Eat it directly as it is still hot for a great “dumpling experience” :slightly_smiling_face:

Steam Hongkong (IDR 315,000 for 7 ounces)
For this steam Hongkong mackerel fish costs IDR 45,000/gram. We ordered 7 ounces fish and got two fishes. The fish meat is so soft. Tastes good along with the broth. My grandma and her sister also like it.

Hello @Velvel ,

Awesome food post as usual!

Seaweed tofu, its my favorite. The price is not bad actually, because when I see the picture of how it looks, I thought it will be very expensive.

Thank you @AngieYC

Yeah, the price here is still budget friendly and worthy with the taste, ambiance, and service that we get.

Great to know you who comes from Indonesia :blush: Do you have a favorite Chinese food restaurant at Bulgaria?

Hello @Velvel ,

There are some Chinese restaurants here but nothing beats the Chinese restaurant in Jakarta yet.

I went to France few weeks ago where I decided to try the Chinese restaurant there and it doesn’t disappoint, but still the Chinese food in Jakarta better. One of my favorite dish is seared scallop with vermicelli. I am sure you can find it in Jakarta too.

I am with you @Velvel - I can easily eat everything your family ordered here. I am curious what is “beehon”? My family is originally from Guangdong. So not familiar with this regional Chinese cuisine style.

I know another Google Moderator, @TsekoV , who would be very interesting in reading your post here and drooling over your food photos like I am :yum:

Cheers,

Karen

Hi @KarenVChin actually beehon in Chinese language we call it is 米粉 mi fen (white rice noodle). Probably Chinese people in China and US not familiar with the word “beehon”. Singaporean and Malaysian call rice white noodle as “beehon”. Next time I’d better say “rice white noodle”, so that people will be more familiar :smiley: thank you for asking.

Karen, Do you live in San Francisco? What is the recommended food at Chinatonw SF?

@TsekoV 你好! Welcome to my culinary post and hope you enjoy it. I see you wrote some post in Chinese language. I am going to read them. That’s nice!

Ahh @Velvel, rice noodle (Mi fen) is rice vermicelli. I know what that is. It is the really skinny rice noodle like Italian vermicelli noodle.

Yes, I was born in San Francisco. My family has been here for a long time. Some great Chinese restaurants, Cantonese style, to go to in SF Chinatown are:

R & G Lounge (Seafood)

Sam Wo Restaurant (late-night dining)

City View Restaurant (dim sum house - took @ermest to eat my favorite dim sum in 2017)

Cheers,

Karen

@ErmesT seemed enjoying the dimsum so much! Totally agree @KarenVChin that dimsum is life. Thank you for the recommendation.

Back again to white vermicelli, have you ever tried 麺線 / mian xian (flour rice noodle)? It has thicker and chewier texture than white rice noodle.

One of the famous flour rice noodle is Ay-Chung Flour-Rice Noodle at Taipei, Taiwan.

Hi @KarenVChin ,

Thank you for tagging me on this post, it really made my day and I felt as if I am in China, hehehe.

@Velvel , all of these dishes that you tried in the 金木 restaurant looks so tasty! Which one did you enjoy the most? I haven’t tried all of the dishes you shared with us, maybe only half of them.

A dish that I loved eating in China is called 焖面 (men4 mian4). I am not quite sure how to translate this one, but it was quite appetizing and I loved ordering it quite often. Here is a photo of it.

I also loved eating lots of Zhajiang noodles and Biangbiang noodles, as the latter were simply my favorite ones. ^ ^

@Velvel , :)

@TsekoV I think I love all of the food here. My most favorite is their Zhajiang Noodle and Boiled Dumpling. Both is made with pork. So great! Especially there is a discount promo for the Zhajiang Noodle. I will be back for sure!

Oh, 焖面 men mian, I think my mom has ever made fried noodle by using men mian. China has a lot of variant of noodle, and all of them is delicious, do you agree?

Velvel

Yogyakarta.

LRT (Light Rail Transit).

Riding Gondola in The Middle of The Sea

Autumn Vibes in Indonesia

Light Rail Transit (LRT) in Jakarta
