Today, Thailand Local Guides Community (TLGC) admins Khun Bank @AsaniV and I just arranged a meetup for TLGC members @MarkEpicurean . Since the Connect Live 2019 is coming and the application window has just open to apply. There are so many people interested in applying, then the meetup was happened to guide and provide them more tips & information. We invited @JosephDewey to join this meetup to share experiences from attending the previous Connect Live 2018 to fellow Thai Local Guides who would like to apply.
Due to our packed schedules, this meetup was later announced to the members so that we were not able to add it to the meet up page in time - it doesn’t matter. Personally, this post is kind like falling into Food & Drink or Local Stories rather than Meet-ups section. ?
From research, we found out a cool place to arrange the meetup at Too Fast To Sleep, SCB Siam Square, famous 24-hr cafe, aiming to service for Thai students who love to spend their times in reading books, working, doing homework or having group discussions.
I like the name of the cafe “Too Fast To Sleep”, because it opens 24 hrs and suitable for night owls especially during final exam seasons ?
The cafe is located 2nd floor above the Siam Commercial Bank (SCB), Siam Square. Its original branch is authentic and famous - located on Rama IV road, opposite to Chamchuri Sqaure, a shopping mall right next to Chulalongkorn University.
Before accessing to the cafe, you must have either SCB ATM card or downloaded SCB Easy application on your phone and show to security for access granted. When stepping inside the cafe, it feels like academic atmosphere is surrounded us - many people keep quiet in this place and that’s a good thing.
The reason why we chose this place for the meetup is its pricing and location. It is situated in the heart of Siam Square near BTS SIAM Station. Also, it is totally affordable to get a meeting room here - just pay 80 THB per person to order food & drinks and you can use the meeting room facilities for free !! For example, meeting room for 8-10 persons, total price to pay may vary from 640 - 800 THB.
It is highly recommended to check availability and book the meeting room in advance since it’s always crowded during academic semester.
More details of what we shared during the Meet-up are in the slide pack >> Click here (large file size = 160MB)
You can feel free to download it. Contents in the slide pack are about preparation for Connect Live 2019, FAQ, how to create a good application video, continued with experience sharing session from Joseph.
To sum up, it was great to welcome new members and catch up with fellow Local Guides in the community. We hope to host more meet-ups to gather and get to know more active Local Guides soon.
