Me being a local guide, I could see Recommendations from local option under updates in google maps. However, my friends would like to follow me in google maps, but they are unable to find the recommendation by local option, though app is updated.
So, is this feature available for people who are local guides or to everyone?
If yes, then why they aren’t finding recommendation option in google map?

The following function is a pilot project, actually not available to everyone, as you can read on Discover even more places on Google Maps
“When selecting Local Guides to participate, we look for things like how often they share recommendations, and quality and frequency of their contributions on Maps. If you’re not selected to participate but live in one of these cities, keep an eye on the “For You” tab for great local finds from a fellow community member!” is what is declared in there.
BTW, the function is slowly expanding to more and more people. Keep contributing in a great way, with photos and reviews, and you may become one of the local guides to follow on the next months
