Getting an award or recognition for any work makes people more motivated to do that work, be it in the workplace or on a volunteer platform.
I love to contribute to the voluntary community. For that purpose I have been associated with ‘Bangladesh Local Guides’ for almost 7 years. Because I know that it is possible to benefit many people easily through volunteering with BDLG. After joining this community I learned how to benefit many people by making small contributions to Google Maps. But in this case the contributions should be correct. Otherwise people will be harassed instead of benefited.
After joining this community I try to contribute to organizing community events besides contributing to maps. I am a graphic designer by profession. So I do different designs during BLDGs events. My journey began with the logo design of BLDGs 100th meetup.
Design makes any event colorful, be it logos, t-shirts, banners or anything else. It is natural that something creative will attract people, so I always try to use my workplace experience to do something creative in BDLG meetups.
The journey started with the 5th years celebration meetup logo design. In that logo I tried to highlight the culture of Bangladesh. At that time the logo was praised by the community and everyone present at the meetup.
Not to mention another work of mine, that is BDLG’s 6th year celebration meetup t-shirt design. For the first time, I incorporated Google Maps into the background of that t-shirt design. The combination of the map with light blue color was also appreciated.
Almost all designs of the 10th years celebration meetup are done by me. From ID Cards, Ribbons, T-shirts to event Backdrop Banners. Thanks to @SoniaK (the host of the BDLG 10th years celebrations meetup) and @MahabubMunna (Founder of BDLG) for giving me the opportunity to do the designs by keeping me in the organizing team of this meetup and to honor me by presenting this memento. I think this kind of recognition will motivate us to do better in the future.
Note that, 17 other people like me have been given this memento for making special contributions in the journey of Bangladesh Local Guides in the last 10 years.
