[RECAP] YouTube Webinar: Verification Process

On January 7th, 2020, I hosted a YouTube LIVE event called: YouTube Webinar: Verification Process.

About 33 Local Guides from around the world signed up via the official RSVP and about 8 or 9 people were actually participating in the LIVE recording. Some watched the replay.

The people that signed up were ALL asked to fill out a Google Form. From the 33 people that filled out the RSVP, only 6 filled out the evaluation form.

The Content of the Webinar:

During the almost 2 hour event, I presented all my content in sections and allowed participants to ask questions at the end of each section. There was a LOT of information being shared and I wanted to be absolutely sure that everyone present, understood what was being shared.

At the end of my presentation, we finished off with a more general Q&A.

These were the topics sections:

  1. Short Introduction to the Verification Process
  2. The real meanings of the two main responses “Approved” & “Not Applied”
  3. What does the Algorithm
  4. The limitations of the Algorithm
  5. The Trust-Score
  6. Smart Mapping Strategies
  7. Reasons for the Not Applied Response

Here is the video registration. You can still enjoy the whole presentation by watching the replay on YouTube:

Thank you @JanVanHaver .

I am already thinking about how I can cut this into more digestible pieces that can still make sense on their own. The challenge is that it is all interlinked knowledge. I am convinced that a better understanding by more people, will only lead to more efficient (and more Not Applied resilient) Local Guides.

You and I are both examples of people that took the long road: spending many, many hours studying posts and case studies to get a better understanding of Map Editing and what it takes. You and I, also know that two hours of watching a video getting it all served on a plate is nothing.

If only one motivated Local Guide can save time and use that time saved to better Google Maps, it was all worth it for me.

Let’s guide and be guided.

Shorter videos per sub-topic is indeed an option @JeroenM , but might indeed not be easy to get done.
