Myself, Host @Sathiyaph and Co-Host @SJasourH98 are happy to write RECAP of our Virtual Meetup - Global LGs Weekly Grooming session-4.

Topics for WGS-4:

1. How to draw Roads in Google Maps (Intermediate)
2. Best Practices to post valuable photos in Google Maps - Part-2

The meetup was very impressive and gave a good platform to learn and contribute to Google Maps and LG Connect. 66 LG’s did RSVP, which included many Global LGs and Collaboration members of Grooming Group.

As this is our first Virtual meet up for both of us as a host and co-host, meetup was planned and executed with the help of our Mentor @TravellerG and our @Anil6969 .

We already communicated to LG’s that Google Meetup link will be live by 4:20 PM, so one by one, they started joining the Meetup right from 4:20.

Session:1

First we started Self Introduction of Host Team and attendees from 4:20 PM. We called upon all LGs to introduce themselves with their Name, Connect ID, Location and Level; meantime, I have also asked to write attendees Connect IDs in Google Meet chat.

Interesting things happened during introduction: Indonesian LG @Ddimitra displayed her home made chocolates and @Gurukrishnapriya showed her painting – both were an extra virtual treat for all of us.

Then TravellerG gave a brief introduction about Senior most LG RtnArulPrakasamT and formally invited to start the grooming session presentation which started at 5:10 PM. Our Guest Speaker Senior LG @RtnArulPrakasamT , is the head of South India Local guide community and has many contributions and drawn hundreds of roads in Google maps.

He started his session with photos of our previous Heritage walk conducted In Chennai and gave a wonderful LIVE session on how to draw roads on Google Maps for 30 mins which he demonstrated from his mobile. He explained step by step procedure – How to reach & select the menus and how to name the roads, etc. He also shared his experience on Google Maps from 2009 and also clarified doubts asked by LG’s during Q&A Session.

Also I would like to mention that our Photo Worlds Sr Member, @Mukesh71 shared his experience in contributing around 1500 km of road on Google’s road mapper in Ethopia, Venezuela and Myanmar using Laptop. He also thanked @RtnArulPrakasamT that he could learn now how to draw roads using mobile.

Session:2

TravellerG thanked RtnArulprakasamT for his wonderful session and took over to the presentation on Best Practices to post valuable photos in Google Maps-2. His presentation was with example Places like Zoo/Parks, Restaurants with photos. This Session went till 6:10 PM, post the session, we had Q&A and clarified the doubts asked by attendees.

We also thank all the LG’s from India and different countries of the world like USA, Indonesia, Sharjah who attended this session and made it a grand success. We are happy that they appreciated about this wonderful learning session …
