[Recap] Virtual Photo Workshop 1

On May 3rd nearly 50 intrepid Local Guides embarked on a ten week journey to learn more about photography, Local Guides, themselves and each other. This meet-up was the first in a series of 10 meet-ups hosted by myself. This is a big experiment in virtual meet-ups to see what we can achieve together and how we can improve each other’s photography for Maps.

In this session the crew met each other and discussed what photography means to them (predominantly memories and sharing) and we ran through a bit of photography history and had a surprise phone food photography lighting tip. The meet-up series runs from May 3rd through July 5th 2020 and you can find out more about it on Local Guides Connect https://www.localguidesconnect.com/t5/General-Discussion/Online-Photo-Workshop-Series-Ten-Meet-Ups/td-p/2478087 Come along to the next ones if you like. In the next episode we’re talking about different kinds of camera and what they’re good for. There will also be some demonstration and a task to do at home. The whole series will be put up on YouTube for those who want to join in but cannot come in person. You don’t need to come to them all. Everyone welcome. Please join in and have some fun. You can watch the video of the first one below and meet all the wonderful people who came along to share.

Thanks @TraciC and to think I thought the 36 Walk required big behind the scenes work, then I saw what our good made @AdrianLunsong was doing and how much he put in for the Local Guides Quiz and how much fun people had and I thought, if he can do it, I can do it :).

We’ve shared some meet-up recording tips and some of the Local Guides are offering great feedback and tips as well so I’m learning to which is so cool.
